In the 90s there was biggie and pac that was gangstar rap but you didn't see kid go and kill each other like today don't blame rap for mess up kids. Again this is where parenting comes in place to tell a child that that crap is not real
perhaps all the gang banging and shootings werent really heard of in toronto ...during the 90's biggie 2pac wu tang era...
but all that sh1t was already happening in the US ....even more during east coast vs west coast beef and it even escalated more when pac and biggie were at it.....and lets not forget ice cube doggpound snoop vs mobb deeb capone and nore etc etc.....
gangbanging was always an issue in alot of the west coast ...and high crime all over the east coast as well......just remember that toronto hiphop scene is relatively still new and eventually whatever was happening in the US moved up in a matter of time to toronto ......and its not just the hiphop that moved up here ..all the negative ish came with it tooo.....
the media influnces alot of people.....for the good and bad i bet when u were 15 or 16 u were rocking nautica jackets or tommy gear during the 90's ....while sporting those method man goggles over your new era caps hahahah
Definately rocked the Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger in the 90's and even a bit now, but never the goggles. That was just dumb.
BTW - Is that a gang sign or a fake gun pose you're doing with your hand in your profile pic?
Did the media influence you to do that?
lol thats me being a bad a$$ ...fooling around with the digital cam
i got the same stuff toooo.....styles were even better back then ...did u ever do the white tee wrapped over your head? lol ....k thats was more 2000ish

Can't blame artist for what going on. You got to realize its up to the parent to tell their kids that it ain't real its just entertiment. Here is an example. So if a kid piledrive a next kid who's to blame wwe.
off course the media is to blame homie....well at least for a big chunk of the blame....think about it teens between the ages of 12-17 are still young and growing up...its the age were they are a bit tooo vulnerable ..and they get easily influenced into something bad which can seem as "cool" and the "in" thing to do....their minds r still growing and if all they see is pure commercial gang-banging hiphop videos with fools like gunit rapping about guns and drugs...whats to expect?? .......
im sooooo glad im not a part of todays younger generation
G-Unit fell off a LONG time ago. Hardcore hip hop is not even in right now. Most hip hop songs are going Euro and becoming dance records
I don't think the media is to blame. It's not like the media only focuses on gansta rap. They focus on alot of other issues. Plus internet porn is more popular than gansta rap. How come we don't see more people having sex than killing?
It just doesn't make sense to blame the media when parents have to be on the ball with what their kids are doing.
i highley doubt that man......hiphop going euro???into dance r u kidding me ??lol well u must know more then me since u follow sh1tty hiphop of today .........thats still hard to believe ....as far i know dirty south hiphop is and has been taking over the genre for sometime now.....aint lil wayne close to being the biggest thing in hiphop much more then nas now???
heres a lil bit of some proof
Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums from the billboard charts
1) YOUNG JEEZY (DIRTY SOUTH?? I THINK SO!) The Recession
lil wayne was just up there too.....r these the rappers going all euro now?? daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmm hiphop is DONE

Don't compare what's happening here to what happen in chile with pinochet. Its like comparing apples and orange.
@god
What do you think they were.
Also I don't know what to do laugh or just nod my head. The kid that got shot got arrested cause he was the one trying to rob a kid in the school and he got hit with a stray bullet meant for the one that was getting robbed
What a fool He definately got what he deserved. It's a better lesson than a slap on the wrist the cops would have given him if the cops caught him for theft.

Another GTA School In Lockdown After Report Of A Teen With A Gun
Wednesday September 17, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
Just one day after a student was shot - and then charged - in an incident at a Toronto school, police are back at another campus on Wednesday. The reason: a report of yet another teenager bringing a gun inside.
Victoria Park Collegiate Institute on Wallingford Road in the York Mills and Victoria Park area, is home to about 1,341 pupils. When calls came in to police just after 2pm Wednesday that one of them was seen with a gun in his waistband, the campus was placed in immediate lockdown and an all-out search begun.
Nothing has been found so far, and these things often resolve themselves with nothing being discovered. But the report coming on the heels of Tuesday's tragedy has left many on edge - and some waiting to be let out of their classrooms once police determine if any danger actually exists.
The Emergency Task Force is on the scene as are 15 to 20 squad cars. No shots have been fired and no one has been hurt.
Like Tuesday's incident, parents have rushed to the school waiting for any news on their children. They've gathered outside the campus and some have attempted to call the students stuck inside on cell phones.
If you think that's out of hand....that's NOTHING compared with what's going on in Mexico right now....there is a big war between Drug Lords and goverment....
While hundres of people were celebrating it...somebody dropped bombs in middle of the crowd in diferent locations...hundreds of people and kids were injured...hundreds....
If you think that's out of hand....that's NOTHING compared with what's going on in Mexico right now....there is a big war between Drug Lords and goverment....
I grew up at Midland and Lawrence..lived there for almost 15 years!!! It started out like an okay place but once we got a bit older it went downhill FAST. My mom didn't even let me go to junoir high around there...they shipped me off to a catholic school 45 minutes away. :(
So razorblade you went to Bendale?? That school is soooooooooo crap!?!?!!?

Holy shiite... I just heard about this a couple of minutes ago... this is in my old hood... cows and all, I'm glad we moved to the boonies when we did... this city really is getting out of hand.
A young man has been critically injured and the hunt is on for a gunman after a shooting at a Toronto high school. Details are still sketchy but Bendale Technical Institute in the Lawrence and Midland area was placed in emergency mode just before noon Tuesday after a 17-year-old was gunned down at the campus.
Reports say he shot in the chest and was found near the doors to the school pool. He was bleeding profusely when paramedics reached him and has been rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (top left.) He's believed to be in critical condition.
The ETF has set up a command post outside as the search for suspects continues. It's reported the weapon that was used may be a sawed off shotgun, but cops still aren't sure.
The suspect may have run into a large park area near the school, an easy place to get lost or hide. An early description suggests he's:
18-19,
5'8"-5'10"
Dark skinned.
He was wearing a cloth hat and a back pack.
There's no word on what sparked the violence.
Nearby Donwood Park P.S. and David and Mary Thomson C.I. have also been placed in lockdown as a precaution.
The shooting comes the day after Toronto Police began patrolling some local schools - but Bendale isn't one of them.
It's said to be an alternative school with an emphasis on business and technical subjects, and specializes in getting students ready for apprenticeships after graduation.
It's the latest in what is becoming a series of lockdowns in GTA schools of late. On Monday, Newtonbrook Secondary S.S. in North York was off limits after a gun threat. Another school in Malton was shuttered when a drive-by shooting took place nearby.
There has only been one fatal shooting inside a Toronto school and that came on May 23rd, 2007 when 15-year-old Jordan Manners was found near a pool inside CW Jefferys C.I. on Sentinel Road. Officers are hoping that number does not go up.
