There are situations where is okay....a friend of mine she supports her mom and she looks after her..

I don't want my kids with me when they are 20...HELL no they must learn to be independent, I do not support codependency. I'm not really impressed by adults that are over 20 yrs and their only responsability in life is their cellphone bill and maybe their car payment....and prolly they are under mommy&daddy insurance because is cheaper...lol

As person we have to learn to be independent, responsable & self suficient and learn the basic survival task .

I agree and disagreee...

I wouldn't mind my kids over 20 living with me... live with me till they get married or decide to move on their own.  BUT...

In order for me to keep providing them food and roof, they MUST be continuing  their education and/or working and saving money for THEIR future.  If they are working F/T and still living at home, they must help with mortgage/rent/bill expenses.

I don't think it's as easy as it was anymore. The Living expenses vs salary ratio, that is. Generally
I think nowadays, young people live longer with their parents to/because: a) save money to move out without/little debt, or b) it's just too tight to maintain a living space/expenses with just one income

I don't think it makes one bigger or better... but it sure teaches you responsibility and forces you to become independent.

Both situations - living alone or with parents - have it's advantages and disadvantages, of course.  Moving out sometimes forces us to learn new skills (i.e: cooking, ironing, managing our $, etc)... not that that can not be learned while living at home either.

I wish I would have had the chance to live with my parents longer. My parents went back to Ecuador when I was 19 and I stayed here.

On the other, being on your own teaches you invaluable lessons and now I don't think I could live with my parents again for long periods of time. I love them but they would drive me a little nuts!

I hope my dad find someone to live with the rest of his days here, but if that doesn't happen, I can't live my dad by himself. If HE wants , he can live with me and my husband. My brother , I think he is living the nest pretty soon.

@God : Well I would never leave my papi (dad) para irme con mi papito. My bf knows that for me family comes first.

i can already foresee problems in ur marriage, one thing u have to do is move away from ur parents and live with ur partner alone, is the only way u guys can grow together as one, once u start to put family in the way of that, is a disaster waiting to happen..... plus ur papi is not a kid and I'm sure he can be by himself maybe the fact that u r around so much stops him from finding some1.

Well, maybe there is a possibility of that happening (living with family or not). Right now he is a independent , strong man, but in the future and with age , he would need someone . I don't think I have stop him from getting to know someone, he just has not found the right person eventhough there has been few candidates. I still have a lot of time ahead of me, before getting married. Time will tell.

i assume is ok when you are a girl. but for guys is different. Is something YOU HAVE TO DO.

I think sometimes circumstance has one living alone.  Maybe it is different for girls but one can have as much of responsibilities and payments of bills etc., living at home.

It depends ......me i would but all of us in the house share the expenses, we split the rent and all ....plus were getting a house or condo down the road....soo the mortgage will be another thing ......

i find alot of latino portuguese even italian familes have that "bond with the fam" mentality .....family up bringings are very important sooo alot dont mind even being married and living in the basement until they can save up and move out fully...

white canadian peeps have a totaly different mentality ....u see alot of cakers at 19 or 18 already wanting to leave the house...
