@CONFUNDIDA -- I believe you should do a bit more reading to fully see and understand what excactly is happening with the money. No i dont know how much is too much but what i can tell u is that it never is too much especially with something this big!! I can tell u that el salvador is still recovering from the earthquake that happend like what 4-5 yrs ago and that was not even close to what happened in Asia and Sir Lanka. Plus were talking about reconstructing how many different countries not just one! Yes some were hit more then others but still. So eventually the money will get distributed, now if your thinking that maybe u wont donate because your not sure were your money will end up thats fine its ur decision but untill tonight at midnight you can donate and the Govt will give you a tax deductable on it.

@CHILENTIA - I think you are taking her comments to much in depth everyone has an opinion that we all may not know how to put it in writing is different story. But thank you for the information and clearing up a few things we all may have been asking ourselves and did not post on here. And i agree with you on your post. And even though confundida may think that you need the back up to whatever that may be i think you can handle your own and dont require any.

If you are asking because you do not know where the best place is to donate? If so, The Canadian Red Cross and Unicef are two of the most respectable charities around.

Remember that it has only been two weeks since the devastation so it takes time to organize and figure out where all the funds will be used. YES, they are still in need in money......we are talking about rebuilding countries and that does not come cheap.

Now, I think that everyone can agree that although many lives were lost and destroyed the world is always going to worry most about the children because they are the futre and they are the most vulneralbe.

I have to somewhat agree with Confundida on this one; especially because of where I come from. When an earthquake happened and thousands of lives were lost and there were millions in damage, the outpour of money, food and clothing came in from the whole world, only to be stolen by a corrupt president and most of the stuff that was donated ended up in the black market.
I'm not saying that will be the case here, but I just hope that the distribution of the money be closely monitored by the agencies who are managing it, and it's used appropriately. However, we all know how corrupt politicians can be, right?

but in a way agree with you "confundida".
some ppl i know dont wanna donate because the destination or purpose of the money is more like unknown. i have donated but, sometimes i wander too.
we pray and wish it doesn't happen again...God forbid....
