Is true!!! Rumba was ghetto towards the end of its life but prior to the last years it was a place to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere. I always had a blast there but I also had a good time at the new venue. What I like is that for a friday it was jammed packed and ladies get in for free.

@ colombiana its this friday n every frieday, ladies free all nite long.

@ Danny, whats the point of havin a long term place anyway? its not like ur there every single wekend right? u go to a aprty u have agood time, thats all that matters, u hit the next club if that closes. music is still the same no? its still the same salsa etce tc.

Whether or not its from RUmba shouldnt really matter, the point is that its gonna be an AMAZING night!!!! its aimed at a nicer dress code, ant go wrong with that right?
N so what about christie pits blah blah blah, punks are anywhere. N HAsnt anyone heard of club hoppin? if u go n u no like, go to another one, besides, 4 most places u girls dont pay, and for guys, if ur 2 concerned about cover then u shouldnt be goin out anyway.its not like drinks are a dollar right?

This friday is gonna be awesome if its anythin like friday that past!

I think i can count the times I went to Rumba Nite. I preferred Las Brisas (the original one on Milvan Drive). I guess cause i lived in the area that's why i always went there. But i agree with Chilenita, i was not a big fan of the ppl that used to go to Rumba Nite. G Man was a wicked MC, i used to see him at Sabor Latino all the time. But the new place sounds good, i wouldnt mind checking it out. So what nites is it happening?

Danny u r probably to "young" to remember this but how do u think Flamingo, Rancho, and specially BaBa's got started? let me tell u it was not by letting mocosos in, and how are they doing things diff u ask? well by not letting them in and at the same time giving them a VIP for when they come back with the proper dress code.... thats a gr8 idea if u ask me, how come no1 ever came up with that, so simple yet awesome.

I'm all for keeping the ghetto kids out, and I'm sure most of the older people are.......

well babalus kept it the same always...
flamengo...so/so hay de todo
rancho still the same...

like i said hopefully it lasts.....the VIP thing is good....plus theres not really a good friday latin venue around

babalus has change big time, trust me, u would not get in if it was still the same way.

~X

how has it changed?...they would only let in salsa funny homo dancing individuals in only back then?rofl.gif

nope, they had a really strict dress code, no hats, jeans, running shoes...... etc. it was really bad i remember going there and not being able to get in, other times i went, so many people got turn back.
It was the main reason many people didn't like going there.

~X

imagine a few regulars from magnate in line to trying to get into babas? rofl.gif...

haha they would not make it to the door, they also used to do that, they would go down the line and tell u if u are going to get in or not. hmm.gif

One thing....I used to like Rumba night on long weekend Sundays back in the day but if there was one they they were NOT known for it was a classy crowd. That place was ghetto!! The crowd was ghetto. Good to see the owners are looking to do someting a bit different now. I would check it out.

ok then so they wanna bring a good ol venue back (considering venues back then werent all "trashy" like todays venues ) ...but yet the place was even ghetto back then??

It used to be good on long weekends but it was right in front of Christie Pits so yeah....not the best crowd.

Finally a good place to go on Fridays. The original owners of Rumba Nite Club decided to open the doors to a new club called Labios Lounge located at Bathurst and Bloor were the old McDonalds used to be. The grand opening was a total success with an older crowed showing up and making it feel like the good old days. The original Dj's from Rumba Nite are there as well as G-man the MC from Rumba Nite and Sabor Latino. The best part is that security is tight on what you wearing because they want the place to be classy like when back in the day people dressed up to go out. They turned away a few people dressed ghetto but gave them a free Vip pass only to realized that they will come back dressed up. Guys check it out it will be a good nostalgic moment from back in the gud old days. I was pretty pleased with the venue itself!!! smile.gifheadbang.gif

wow now thats a way to get the costumer back, I really like what they did, I just hope when the people come back they don't play stupid and say they can't honer it or something like that.
