I doubt it...
There are no such sectors in this society (and if there are, it's not a significant number) Societies in countries such as this are more 'evolved' in certain aspects (sad but true)
The only way I could see it is if our (soccer loving immigrants) passion rubs off on other soccer fans, but I doubt it would ever be to the degree that we see in south america, for example
That, or if we get a whole bunch of Chilenos moving in blankstare.gif

@ Dogo -  Well said meng!

I know that soccer plays a huge social roll, especially in the poorer sectors of any given country. People who are less fortunate put their hopes and dreams on the teams/players that represent them......and if everything else in their lives is messed up....at least they got their team to cheer for. I guess they put the word fan (fanatic) to it's full meaning.

Can you see in the future such extreme fanaticism for the soccer team here?

I agree that this is nuts... and what I'm going to say is not to justify any of this, but.. .there is no doubt that this BS is driven by a great passion.
I cannot understand killing, dying (or whatever) over a soccer match or team, but I can understand the passion for soccer in certain places (Not sure why, and I guess you have to be there, to sense it)
That being said.... keep in mind that soccer -besides being the most popular- is one of the (if not THE) most affordable of sports, so it appeals to everybody, but it appeals the most (and is practiced, generally) to a lower financial/social class. Less educated, poorer, with many social issues, sector of society. In GENERAL
The same type of 'passionate' killing/dying take place over religion, race and ideology. Things people are really passionate about

I cannot understand killing or dying over a soccer team/match, as much as I cannot understand killing, or dying, over religious beliefs, race or ideology, yet it happens everyday and seems 'acceptable'.
Nobody 'normal' or in their right mind would kill another because they are of diff religion, race or idea. Same as they wouldn't because of a friggin soccer match
I think this is a reflection of people in general, not so much soccer fans in particular

If so they are ususally super ghetto idiots that are burdens to society. They ruin the sport. In Chile a few years back it was getting dangerous to go to games.  I know the same thing happens in Argentina.  Now things are improving but they were way out of hand.  Its sad when people can't go watch a sport without acting like a bunch of animals.bleh

Yeah....gangs! That's how I see them. They call them firms.

It's insane to hear these people talk. It's pure gang mentally......live and die for your gang (firm)....A SOCCER TEAM!!!!

WoW!

Yeah in Chile it was pretty bad a couple of years ago.  They even used to arrest people who were known to be trouble before the game and release them once the games were done.  SOOOOOOOOO STUPID!  They have started fights, burnt parts of the stadium down and they are the same LOSERS who mug people at the game.  ANIMALS I TELL YOU!!!!

I don't doubt that Canadians would burn this city down if the leafs wonblankstare  Off topic I know...but not really.

I love the different sports teams that I support - Ecuador's international soccer team, Leafs, Raptors, even Argos. I have been in "friendly" debates with supporters of opposing teams just comparing teams and so forth... but to go and get REALLY verbally abusive, or even worse - physically abusive over my team, it's something I would never do. Sports are just not THAT important to me and -in my opinion - people who are going to those extremes have serious psychological issues.

Would you enroll in one of these firms and fight for your club team.....to the death?!?!?!?

I've been watching a series on The Score (spots channel).....I have no idea what it's called.....but it's this guy that travels from country to country and checks out the soccer firms of each city that he's in.

Last week he was in Turkey....and they were just NUTZ! Crazy, die hard fans, etc.....

Last night he was in Brazil. He visited a few soccer firms.....and they were messed up. He interviewed the presidents (leader) of the firms...and the way they would talk...totally shocked me. They were going on about how they love their teams, etc.....that they're ready to fight, KILL and DIE for their soccer teams!!!!!

Are you FVCKING serious?!?!!?

This is not just in Brazil.....as all of you already know......it's a world wide thing.

How do you feel about that?

Would you be read to kill someone just because they like a different team then yours?!?! .....or even worse.....DIE for your team?!?!?

Personally....I think it's ridiculous! I don't come from a very successful soccer country...so some might argue that I don't understand.......But I'm sorry.......I don't care where you're from or who you are.......These players go on and earn a lot of money to play soccer.....kick back (no pun intended)...and here you are fighting, killing, dieing for a team that gives you what?!?!?  A sense of pride?!!? Are you kidding me?!?!?

Anyway.....that's my rant.......What's your take on it?!?!?
