Chilenita i am not sure but i think Doctors get a comission from the LABS for prescribing a pill, and if you became an addict guess who will have to give you a prescription for the rest of your vida, THE SAME DOCTOR.

If you think the Doctor is not doing his/her job right i think we can complain with Health Canada or the ministry of the consumer or something?

Yeah there are people you can complain to for sure.

Here is where the problem is though. Okay let's say you are getting addicted to these anti depressants. You can basically tell a bunch of different doctors that you need them and they will give them to you. It's hard to track. There are loop holes all over the system.

I heard this mother from Alberta (I think) talking about her daughter on the morning CBC radio show the other day. Her daughter was off at University and she had no clue she had an addiction. It was a pain killer and an antidepressant. She saw four different doctors in a month and they all gave her pills. She died. cry

The mother is trying to get things changed. Who know how many more people will die b4 that happens.

My thing is I dont think they should give anyone antidepressant type pills without making them see a shrink as well. They go hand in hand. You can't get better on pills alone. hmm

i have no link at the moment but its been around for some time now, have u ever heard of the super bugs?........ well they are "bugs" viruses that have mutated so traditional medicin can't kill them that easy anymore...... is part of evolution with time bugs learn to fight of things so they can keep on living.

The more chemicals u put into ur body eventually will have an effect on u and the way ur body functions, reason is so important for woman to take the vitamins/supplements months if not years before they start having kids.

Yes, i know and heard of superbugs, but how does me NOT taking antibiotics help ME when the mayority of the population still DOES take antibiotics and, in turn, making these 'bugs' stronger?
What I'm trying to say is: that these bugs are immune to antibiotics, regardless of who's body they get into, so, if get an infection from one of these 'superbugs' and have never taken an antibiotic in the past, but decided at that time that maybe I should, it still would not kill the 'super' bacteria, Is that not so?
Bear with me, I don't know much about the topic, and am just going on common sense

Believe me girl, you dont understand how many calls we get a day from ppl asking for renewals on all kinds of stuff, that they dont even really need, they just get hooked on them. Some times the doctors will tell them that they're cutting them off or that they have to come back for a visit so the doc can assess if they still need them, you should see how livid these ppl get. Specially the ppl here, who assume that because they spend the big bucks they can just demand and no one has a say otherwise

I dont take pills never really have or meds for that matter not even for giving birth. To be honest you will not find anything but maybe stuff that Orale might use! i prefer to go to the chino herbalist on Keele and Sheppard and thats if its so painful i need some kinda drug!

@Pri - have you tried doing a kidney cleanse? they gave one to mi primo before he had the transplant and even though it did help him ill pass it on to u via email its also a great way to start a cleanse!

Kidney stones are a biiatch - I had one once, and it hurt like hell... Some say worse than giving birth! I think the one time I got hit with severe pain due to kidney stones was the ONLY time I have called an ambulance to come get me!

I try to ride out my colds, flu's as much as possible pero cuando ya no puedo then i will resort to Advil, etc. Same for my kids. Prescriptions like Antibiotics and stuff, not until absolutely necessary, when i know for a fact it's an infection. IM pretty good at self diagnosing my kids, others and myself. Heck, i think i should go to medical school. I already work doctor's hours, according to MJ and Chale blankstare

Well to all the hereos here that can take the pain, I'm going to admit I'm the BIGGEST WIMP & no pain for me.

X & I ague all the time for this, he controls my pill intakes. LOL Althou I got special medication for my kidneys, so I take them as needed. Nothin I can do about it.

OBVIOUSLY they gave me drugs in the operation....during the c-section. Once those wore off I didn't take anything else. They used to leave three pills at my bedside every three hours for like a week. I never took one. It hurt like NUTS right up until the stiches came out but I was breast feeding and I wasn't about to put ANYTHING in my system.

I'm with you. I am totally against taking any medication unless I absolutely have to take 'em. I rather put up with my sympotms/pains as much as I have to - I only take medication when I feel I can no longer handle it. I think I preffer to let my own body fight the symptoms on its own than become dependant on medication.

A few years back I suffered mild allergies (ragweed/seasonal allergies) and tried to tolerate it as much as I could. When it became a bit much, I would pop in a Clarityn here and there. Coworkers thought I was somewhat mosochistic for putting up with the scratchy nose and watery eyes. I still think I did a good thing in letting my own body fight the allergies instead of popping anti-allergen pills daily. A couple of years later, I no longer needed ANY pills whatsoever and I no longer seem to suffer any symptoms at all for about 4-5 years
