this happen to me last year in feb on the 400 north going to court.. I was lucky that no other cars were coming on the highway when it happen or else i would have be chop liver..

@rick

are they snow tires cause if there all season there thread is not thick enough

the front tires are brand new all season tires, the two back tires are older (65% thread left on them).

The odd part is that it wasn't snowing that hard ! the only think that i did was tried to change lanes because i wanted to go slower , everyone around me was going 100 km .

There were cars behind me , i am not sure how they avoided me because i went all three lanes plus 3 donuts. I am not even sure how i missed the concrete wall on the right lane.Plus my car died on me (its manual and i was so shoked the left it on 5 th gear all the time) , it is a good thing i kept my cool and restarted my car fast enough to pulled it to the emergency lane ,otherwise i would of got hit from behind . I thank God that I and my wife came out fine.

I am getting 2 new tires on the back , however i may have to get winter tires because that experienced scared the crap out me

What happened to you is similar to what happened to me many years ago, and enough to learn my lesson
I'm PARANOID when it comes to driving in snowy conditions (even little snow) and nobody knows how a car is going to react
Driving according to the conditions is key. I don't care if everyone around me is doing 200km/h. Those are the people I shake my head to, when they go flying by on 2 inches of snow.. no.gif

oh man trust me i learned my lesson , the more i think about it the more i can not believe how i did not crash against anything. I lost control for about 15 seconds but man i can still remember seeing my car going straigh to the concrete wall and then me making donuts in the middle of the highway while i see the lights of cars comming my way and trying to avoid hitting me.

I can not trust me car in the snow now , at least not on the highway. You know how you see this in the news happening to other people and you never think it may happen to you one day

i am very lucky and someone up there must really like me otherwise i m not sure how it would of ended it

Well, check this story from yesterday's Star...

Driver charged in deadly 401 crash TheStar.com - GTA - Driver charged in deadly 401 crash
American accused of dangerous driving causing death
December 31, 2007

STAFF REPORTERs

A 21-year-old New York woman has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death after a Lexus travelling 100 kilometres per hour smashed into a disabled Subaru stopped on the median of the 401.

The collision killed a 71-year-old Mississauga man, whose car was hit from behind just west of Warden Ave. at 12:30 p.m. yesterday, although his car's hazard lights had been blinking.

A 52-year-old man from Florida, identified as the father of the 21-year-old woman, was sitting in the back seat of the Lexus. He later died from his injuries at Sunnybrook hospital. Three women the driver, her mother and her sister were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The family was travelling from Montreal to Toronto.

According to OPP Const. Dave Woodford, the driver of the Subaru had pulled onto the median shortly before the westbound Lexus travelling at more than 100 km/h hit the rear of his car. Woodford said the driver of the stopped car had taken the proper precautions.

"It's especially strange because the car had its four-way blinkers on when a Lexus came into the median and struck him," he said. "We need to find out in investigation why he went into the shoulder."

The driver of the stopped car suffered severe head injuries.

Beige tarps covered two mangled vehicles under the Warden Ave. overpass as police conducted their investigation.

Mary Khavarian is a front desk clerk at the Howard Johnson hotel just off Hwy. 401. At 2:10 p.m., she was crossing the Warden Ave. overpass on her way to her 3 p.m. shift when she noticed flashing lights and traffic gridlock.

"Everything was shut down," Khavarian said. "I couldn't see the crash really because it was under the bridge, but I saw lots of lights from the police cars and ambulance."

Express lanes from Brimley Rd. to Warden Ave. were closed until 6 p.m.

Charged is Niki Chan, of Flushing, N.Y., who is being held until a bail hearing set for today at 10 a.m.

yesterday was the first time I almost got into a big car accident

driving from niagara back to toronto on the QEW, it was snowing just a little bit , everyone was going 100km , all of the sudden i loose control of my car!! , my car went fromm the far left lane to the middle then right lane I just turn my steering wheel to avoid crashing against a big concrete wall (beside the right lane) , however i find my car making donuts ! in the middle of the higway and cars comming my way ( trying avoding to hit me) . Finally my car stops making donuts and is dead , i tried to restarted to avoid getting hit from behind , finally it started !! I got back onto the highway but i was going like 70 km and avoiding changin lanes. I got home and thought to myself that i was so lucky not to hit the big concrete wall and even luckier not to get hit by any cars.

Now , I really do not know how i lost control of my car, i was going 100km just like everyone else , my tires are new , I even tested my tires after when i got off the highway to see if there was something wrong but nothing!! I am a little freak out of how easy i lost control of my car and almost got kill .

Anyone can relate???
