Why is it such a shock i know half the girls i graduated with at Dante or sorry let me rephrase that didnt graduate but did start grade Nine that ended up pregnant by grade 10-11. They were saying on the news that for a first world country the USA and Canada are very Nieve to the topic of pregancy and birth control! For god sakes they say that USA has the most teen pregnancies a year compared to third world countries.
Its funny but i never blame the parents im sorry but your mother can tell you a million times sweety take pills or use condoms but in the end shes not there going ok sweety now spread your legs and let him stick his peni$ inside you ok now do this and that come on! she got pregnant on her own! and im sorry but no matter how many times a mother may ask you are you having sex we all know that u can look her dead in the face and say Mom no come on! So i know her sister is messed up but i mean that doesnt mean that the younger one is the same! some younger kids actually learn for there mistakes and lets not forget Britney got preggers at the age of 20something and she didnt become a nut case until after and i do believe it had a lot to due with her nut case of a hubby!!!!
I don't know Genie. I guess each situation is different. I think the mistake MANY latino moms/dads make with their kids is talking about sex as if it's a sin. They make it hard for thier children to open up about what is really going on with them. The more open and honest you are with your kids the more they will allow you into their life. At the same time you must set SOME limits and I think allowing a 16 year old to live under your roof with her boyfriend is just ridiculous. Not because of the "sex" factor but because no 16 year old is ready for a "live in" type relationship.

I commented on this particular situation because I am into pop culture () and have read up on the train wreck that is the Spears family. If you allow your daughter to live with her boyfriend at 16 you have parenting issues.

Fair enough.
The reason why I say that is cuz I know 3 cases in which the girls have gotten pregnant at 16, 2 of them sisters by the way.... and to be honest there is no doubt in my mind that the situations with their families didn't help at all. Then again, we prob should'nt blame it all on family upbringings.
