your right but im refering in terms of quality of futbol....at the moment colombia is no better then ecuador.....we have good key players but our organization is just off thanx to our wack a$$ coach....the goalies r not good tho...if anything just elizaga.....

colombias potential still didnt change

if anything chile is probably the best 3rd team in south america right now..

im relying on the midfielders mendez lara valencia and kaviedes as a forward....we should be able to win....but u know we have the re****tion of choking away from home...

looks like ecuador is going through what colombia went through when its key players at the time valederrama asprilla etc...got old and they were left with average players

peru is going throught a different period now. The coach for some reason keeps calling the old glorys ( Roberto Palacios, Nol solano, Cirlizza, soto) players that are past their prime.

However there is a lot of youngsters peruvians playing internationally that are not giving a chance in the national team

Zambrano (germany)
Vasquez ( sweden)
Merino (Greece)
Manco ( best under 17 player in southamerica last year)
Chavez ( Belgium)
Bailon (Portugal)
Marino( spain)
Forsyth (italy)

Plus we keep getting unlucky with the injuries we had in the first two games
Guerrero ( germany)without a doubt the best player we have right now
Hidalgo (Brasil)
Marino (spain)

I think at least ecuador and colombia coaches are renovating their teams , at least you are seeing new players, sooner or later the results are gonna come for your team. In peru we have yet to see the new players play cry

It's a looooooong tournament, new players will come out in the meantime, and hopefully you guys can get rid off Suarez and his mantra of "Perder es ganar un poco" that Maturana brought a few years ago... apart from ARG- BRA anything else can happen...so don't loose your faith pray.gif

No, I don't give up hope... but when good players on your team don't play a game or two, it just gives us less of a chance to win that one or two games... At the end of qualification, that extra 1 or 2 points lost could have been the difference in ending 4th or 6th - qualifiying or going home. cry.gif

Ecuador snub Hurtado and De la Cruz

(Reuters) Tuesday 6 November 2007
Print Email to a friend
Ecuador have left captain Ivan Hurtado and right back Ulises de la Cruz out of the squad for this month's South Africa 2010 qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

The pair have criticised coach Luis Fernando Suarez recently and both played in the 5-0 defeat by Brazil last month.

Hurtado, 33, has won 145 caps for his country and has played in five FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns, including the current one. De La Cruz has won 98 caps.

Although he is suspended from the Paraguay game after picking up two yellow cards, Hurtado would have been eligible to face Peru.

Goalkeeper Daniel Viteri was also dropped after disappointing performances against Venezuela and Brazil last month.

Viteri was caught napping by Jose Manuel Rey's 45 metre free kick in the 1-0 defeat by Venezuela and his blunder allowed Kaka to score Brazil's fifth goal at the Maracana.

Viteri was sent off in his next game for Deportivo Quito and had another bad afternoon on Sunday in a 3-1 league defeat by LDU.

Edwin Villafuerte, whose career has been punctuated by disciplinary problems, was recalled in Viteri's place alongside Argentine-born goalkeepers Marcelo Elizaga and Javier Klimowicz.

Ecuador, who have qualified for the last two World Cups, have yet to score a goal or a point in the qualifiying campaign for the tournament in South Africa.

They visit Paraguay on 17 November and host Peru four days later.

The squad:
Goalkeepers: Marcelo Elizaga (Emelec), Edwin Villafuerte (Barcelona), Javier Klimowicz (Deportivo Cuenca)

Defenders: Jairo Montano (Barcelona), Jairo Campos (LDU), Jorge Guagua (Emelec), Giovanny Espinoza

(Vitesse Arnhem), Paul Ambrossi (LDU), Oscar Bagui (Olmedo), Carlos Castro (El Nacional), Omar De Jesus (El Nacional)

Midfielders: Edison Mendez (PSV Eindhoven), Luis Antonio Valencia (Wigan Athletic), Segundo

Castillo (Red Star Belgrade), Alex Bolanos (Barcelona), Patricio Urrutia (LDU), Cristian Lara

(LDU), Walter Ayovi (El Nacional), David Quiroz (El Nacional)

Forwards: Cristian Benitez (Santos Laguna), Felipe Caicedo (Basel), Ivan Kaviedes (El Nacional), Ebelio Ordonez (El Nacional), Jorge Ladines (Emelec)

and no tenorio in the lineup cry.gif

Ecuador has no hope, the best they can do is get a 0-0 tie..

okk tampoco asi hahahah maybe a 2-0
i smell an upset for colombia

I hope they could tie but if it's not a 0-0, I don't see who could score for Ecuador(do you see who?),  I don't know this team at all, but it doesn't seem impressive and playing in Defensores del Chaco eshhhh, ... there are only two places left and I wouldn't like to see Paraguay flying away, and leave us only one spot to contend with Uruguay and maybe Chile

Colombia has new talents but they haven't proved anything yet, so I'm upbeat but still skeptic with them but if they can't beat Venezuela en el Campin, me daria mucha  verguenza!

i wouldnt overlook venezuela pana.....l actually think that they will go far....they messed us up already at home....

colombias new talents remain to be seen still.....the team itself doesnt look that different from the last time still ****ty....they r probably at the same level of ecuadors soccer at the moment...maybe slightly lower..

if we can score saturday ill assume it will be from edison mendez lara or tenorio....

theres a good colombian player that plays in italy hes good i forgot his name

Fawk - Ecuador better make at least a point by tying this game.  I think they will come stronger because they will want to prove themselves.

actually dogo the top 4 make it and the 5 th plays against one of the concafac so its a almost a sure win. I would say 5 make it.

If Ecuador loses they can still make it , technically they only lost 3 points against venezuela , after that it was expected that ecuador will lose against brazil and this game is an away game so it is expected to be a lost or 1 point

They have to win the game against Peru for sure , otherwise they will be in big trouble

Well no, you're not automatically out, but it would be very hard to make a comeback. Don't forget just the top 4 make it.
