If someone does an Excel report and saves it as "October report". Uses the SAME Excel sheet, clears all the numbers to get the chart ready for next month. This person SAVES the altered (blank numbers) document under THE SAME name (FORGETS to rename the document for Nov.)
Is there a way of getting back the numbers entered for October?
Was there a backup file? If there was, the previous file's still there (but that has to be enabled).

Tell that person that your are helping... LOL Sure.... to go to her sent items and look for the October e-mail list, I am sure she sends it to people I do that too....
Tell her to retrieve it from sent items... works all the time.

Did that already - not sure how well it went. All I know I was never asked about it anymore - must be typing it all over again or have found a solution to the problem

Anyway, isn't there another place where you could have saved a copy of the October file? Maybe in a shared drive everyone else can have access to view it? Or maybe you email out these monthly reports? someone could still have it. You see how i try to help an ingrato? I'm a nice person afterall.

try doing a search on downloads.com or go to pcworld under downloads and click on utilities....few years back i lost a bunch of files and found this sotrware that retrived most of the lost files, can't recall the name but iam sure there are many.
is there a revert option under the files menu....wait i think that only reverts to the last time you saved your file.... I you want to get really techy, you can find many files on the virtual memory, you need a third party software that can read this files...and you can retrive your lost file....
