fidel did sum bad stuff i agree but the whole reason cuba is what it is, es porque los estados unidos
When you say "yo tambien estoy en la politica" I really hope you mean it figuratively. How does GBs' post have anything to do with political views, socialism (which BTW, Cuba is not socialist. It's flat-out communist) or the US embargo? He's talking about a dictator violating human rights. A tyrant, regardless It's not Fidel's political views, or the US embargo, that makes Fidel rule with an iron fist
If the issue at hand is the violation of human rights, then I'd guess (since I don't know enough about Pinochet, but have lived through very similar dictactorship) that Fidel is just as guilty of it as Pinochet. From lack of freedom of speech and press... All the way to oppresing or annihilating anyone who poses a threat to the regime
I see GB's point... just because you agree with one's political views, and not the other's, it should'nt be an excuse to approve of human right violatioins of one but not the other

Gen Pinochet died in 2006 without facing trial for human rights abuses
Relatives of Chile's former military leader, Gen Augusto Pinochet, have been released on bail a day after their arrest on charges of embezzlement.
His widow and five children are accused of illegally transferring $27m (£13.2m) to foreign bank accounts during the general's rule between 1973 and 1990.
Sixteen other suspects were also granted conditional release.
The general died in December 2006 before he could stand trial on charges of corruption and human rights abuses.
More than 3,000 people were killed or "disappeared" during his military rule.
Aides implicated
Judge Carlos Cerda, who authorised the releases, is investigating a case in which Gen Pinochet allegedly hid funds with the help of Washington-based Riggs bank.
RIGGS CASE 2004 US probe into Riggs bank found Gen Pinochet held up to $8m in secret accounts there Accounts alleged to have been opened in names of his widow, children and associates Further investigations found former ruler held some $27m in foreign accounts Gen Pinochet charged with tax evasion and using false passports to open accounts abroad His lawyers say fortune gained legally through savings, donations and accrued interest
Suspects include Gen Pinochet's former personal secretary, Monica Ananias, and his lawyer Gustavo Collao.
At least three retired army generals - Jorge Ballerino, Guillermo Garin and Hector Letelier - were also charged.
In 2004 a US Senate investigation found hundreds of bank accounts in the name of Pinochet and his relatives at the bank. He was being investigated for tax evasion, fraud and embezzlement in relation to those funds.
His immunity from prosecution was stripped in 2000, sparking years of legal wrangling to try to bring him to trial for alleged human rights abuses and tax fraud.
His lawyers said he was unable to defend himself for health reasons.
In 2006, Gen Pinochet died of a heart attack aged 91 while under house arrest.
the only reason pinochet doesnt look like a killer outside of chile is cause hes loaded with $$$$
Actually he does look like the killer he is worldwide!
here is some additional info

the only reason pinochet doesnt look like a killer outside of chile is cause hes loaded with $$$$
Y fidel? goldenboy dont comment if u dont know ur history and facts
thats why im not gonna comment much on chile cuz i havent studied their past history> sorry chile lol

@ chile>those are harsh words, trust me. Im against dictators
did the whole family take part in the killings?
im not gona comment anymore cuz i dont have any thing against the family, i know pinochet and his government were bloody killers, my last comments are gonna be "let God judge their souls if they have blood on their hands"
Oye goldenboy> usted abla mucho de fidel no? usted sabe la historia de fidel? how that whole S H I T started? able con los americanos, talk to the dictators of the world USA and ask who started the whole blockade with cuba
I hope his children are tortured and raped to the point that they faint and die.
Those are harsh words. That is also what his regime did to people so whateves. My words can never be to harsh when speaking of disgusting creatures.
I remember I sat and listened to someone do an interview once with the CBC re:what happened in Chile. He said that once night while being held and tortured he could hear the women in the next room being raped over and over. He said that no matter how much pain his body was in it hurt much more listening to these women. When I say they were disgusting creatures I am not kidding or exaggerating.

US bank accounts were found in the name of Pinochet and his relatives
A Chilean judge has ordered the arrest of five children and the widow of former military ruler Augusto Pinochet on charges of embezzlement.
The warrants were among 23 issued as part of a corruption investigation into state funds held in US bank accounts.
Gen Pinochet, who ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990, died in December 2006 before he could stand trial on charges of corruption and human rights abuses.
More than 3,000 people were killed or "disappeared" during his military rule.
Judge Carlos Cerda said there were "solid indications" the accused had "participated in the misuse of fiscal funds".
Judge Cerda is investigating a case in which Gen Pinochet allegedly hid some $27m (£13.2m) with the help of Washington-based Riggs bank.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- The widow and five children of dictator Augusto Pinochet were among 23 people indicted Thursday on corruption charges, a judge said.
Augusto Pinochet and his wife, Lucia Hiriart, appear with their children in an undated photo.
Judge Carlos Cerda said he ordered the detention of the 23 relatives and former associates of Pinochet because of "solid indications that they had participated in the misuse of fiscal funds" during Pinochet's 1973-90 dictatorship.
Pinochet's widow, Lucia Hiriart, two of his children and several other suspects already had been arrested, police director Arturo Herrera said.
Cerda was to decide whether to keep them detained during trial.
Those indicted included at least three retired army generals -- Jorge Ballerino, Guillermo Garin and Hector Letelier -- and other lower-ranking officers.
