UN dictador en mis libros es un dictador. No me vas a negar que bajo el gobierno de fFidel no ha muerto gente ni tampoco me puedes negar que el y su familia viven como reyes, mientras SU PUEBLO sufre.
En ningun momento he defendido a Pinochet ni a su familia. Es mas, estoy totalmente en contra de todo lo que el ha hecho.
aqui en Canada he conocido de cerca muchas familias que sufrieron con Pinochet y que fueron torturadas o perdieron familiares en las manos de su gobierno. Tb he tenido la suerte de leer muchos libros hacerca del tema. Tengo 30 anos asi que mis opiniones las tengo que basar en lo que he leido y en lo que me han dicho mi familia y otras personas.

Mi punto era que me parece poco etico defender a una Persona como Fidel (como muchos de ustedes lo han hecho en otros post) y criticar con tanto odio a Pinochet.
Eso era todo.
con mucho respeto esa es mi opinion.

Pinochet family released on bail

Gen Pinochet died in 2006 without facing trial for human rights abuses

Relatives of Chile's former military leader, Gen Augusto Pinochet, have been released on bail a day after their arrest on charges of embezzlement.

His widow and five children are accused of illegally transferring $27m (£13.2m) to foreign bank accounts during the general's rule between 1973 and 1990.

Sixteen other suspects were also granted conditional release.

The general died in December 2006 before he could stand trial on charges of corruption and human rights abuses.

More than 3,000 people were killed or "disappeared" during his military rule.

Aides implicated

Judge Carlos Cerda, who authorised the releases, is investigating a case in which Gen Pinochet allegedly hid funds with the help of Washington-based Riggs bank.

Suspects include Gen Pinochet's former personal secretary, Monica Ananias, and his lawyer Gustavo Collao.

At least three retired army generals - Jorge Ballerino, Guillermo Garin and Hector Letelier - were also charged.

In 2004 a US Senate investigation found hundreds of bank accounts in the name of Pinochet and his relatives at the bank. He was being investigated for tax evasion, fraud and embezzlement in relation to those funds.

His immunity from prosecution was stripped in 2000, sparking years of legal wrangling to try to bring him to trial for alleged human rights abuses and tax fraud.

His lawyers said he was unable to defend himself for health reasons.

In 2006, Gen Pinochet died of a heart attack aged 91 while under house arrest.

El clan Pinochet vive hoy su primer día de reclusión luego que el juez Carlos Cerda determinara procesarlos junto a otros 17 integrantes del círculo del general (R) por malversación de fondos públicos en el marco del caso Riggs.

Lucía Hiriart permanece bajo arresto internada en el Hospital Militar luego que ayer sufriera un alza de presión. Hasta el recinto asistencial han llegado a visitarla los di****dos UDI Iván Moreira y Julio Dittborn, además del cardenal Jorge Medina.

"La señora Lucía está de cuidado, con una situación de hipertensión. Obviamente está muy angustiada. Está con una serie de medicamentos, reposando y durmiendo. Y bueno, a la edad de 84 años, cualquier situación es delicada y espero que vaya mejorando y que la situación judicial se resuelva lo antes posible, porque aquí ha habido una arbitrariedad de un juez que parece que necesitaba meter presos a los Pinochet para ir a cobrar un suculento premio por el tema de los derechos humanos", señaló Moreira.

Las hijas de Pinochet -Lucía, Jacqueline y Verónica- así como la ex secretaria personal del fallecido militar, Mónica Ananías, pasaron la noche en el Centro Penitenciario Femenino (ex COF), mientras que sus hijos Augusto y Marco Antonio cumplen el arresto en la cárcel Santiago 1, junto al abogado Gustavo Collao, el ex cónsul Patricio Madariaga y el Contador José Hernán Sobarzo, los otros civiles procesados en la causa.

Precisamente a este último recinto de Gendarmería es que llegó Augusto Pinochet Molina, hijo homónimo de su padre y que fue removido del Ejército tras un provocador discurso durante el funeral de su abuelo en donde defendió a sus familiares involucrados en el caso de las millonarias cuentas. "Ellos no son delincuentes. No vale la pena hablar de este tema", sostuvo en la oportunidad.

En tanto, el abogado Ambrosio Rodríguez fue internado anoche en la clínica de la Universidad Católica en San Carlos de Apoquindo y los uniformados procesados se encuentran en las dependencia de la Policía Militar en Peñalolén.

El único que aún no ha sido notificado de su encausamiento es el ex albacea de Pinochet, Oscar Aitken, quien se presume, estaría en Concón.

LOS ILICITOS EN EL CASO

En su fallo, Cerda establece que por las cuentas de Pinochet pasaron US$ 20 millones, cuyo origen no está justificado. Los movimientos financieros operaban a través de triangulizaciones con el Riggs y fueron destinados, entre otras cosas, a la adquisición de propiedades. Los inculpados arriesgan penas de 10 a 15 años de presidio.

Fortuna: Durante su ivestigación del caso Riggs, el juez Carlos Cerda logró establecer que, a través de diversas cuentas en el exterior a nombre del fallecido general Augusto Pinochet, de sus hijos, su cónyuge, colaboradores y nombres supuestos, existe una suma que llega a US$ 20.199.753, que a juicio del magistrado no encuentra justificación razonable, considerando los ingresos oficiales del fallecido general (R).

El supuesto origen: Tras un análisis de las fuentes legítimas de ingresos de Pinochet, el fallo del juez Cerda sostiene que ganó desde 1973 a 2003 $ 2.146.473.111. Esa cantidad, según el fallo, es notablemente inferior a lo gastado por el ex general y su esposa, que asciende a $ 6.331.471.120. La diferencia entre esas dos cifras ($ 4.184.998.009) es atribuida por Cerda al uso de gastos reservados provientes del presupuesto de la Casa Militar, de la Presidencia y de la Comandancia en Jefe del Ejército.

Las cuentas: Los fondos destinados a gastos reservados, según el fallo, eran girados por la Tesorería General de la República en una cuenta del Banco del Estado y luego derivados a la misión militar de Estados Unidos. En un primer momento (1980-1994) los dineros eran depositados en un banco de Canadá y en un segundo período (1994-1998) en el banco Riggs deWashington.

Triangulaciones: Los fondos fueron depositados originalmente en las cuentas de los jefes de la Casa Militar y luego en otras de los secretarios privados. Estos fondos, depositados en cuentas extranjeras, eran reingresados a Chile a través de inversiones y sociedades que crearon para tales efectos los asesores de Pinochet. La finalidad, dice el fallo, era cubrir los gastos personales del ex comandante en jefe y de sus parientes.

El destino: Los fondos ingresados a Chile se destinaron a propiedades, contrucciones, la explotación agrícola de predios, al sustento de parientes y cercanos de Pinochet y a adquirir diversos bienes, entre otros usos. En el caso de las compras de productos, algunos de los pedidos eran realizados por agregados militares en las misiones diplomáticas en Washington y Madrid.

El delito im****do: Los hechos descritos en el fallo constituyen, parael juez Cerda, el delito de malversación de caudales públicos, "pues un grupo de personas que durante años tuvo a su cargo fondos de gastos reservados pertenecientes al erario nacional, los sustrajo." La pena asociada a este ilícito es de presidio mayor en su grado medio, equivalente a 10 años y un día, con un tope de 15 años de cárcel.

Embargo a firme: Desde que se inició el caso Riggs, a la familia Pinochet se le embargaron casi U$ 5 millones. La defensa de Lucía Hiriart pidió el levantamiento de esa medida cautelar, pero ésta se encuentra actualmente pendiente en la Corte de Apelaciones. El fallo de Cerda mantiene el embargo.

Aristas pendientes: Otra aristas que investiga el ministro Cerda está orientada a presuntas comisiones por compra y venta de equipo bélico. Las referencias que se investigan aluden a operaciones por la venta de los Mirage-5 en 1994 y la venta de tanques Leopard, por el holding holandés RDM Technology. En esta caso, se investiga el supuesto delito de negociación incompatible.

I remember I sat and listened to someone do an interview once with the CBC re:what happened in Chile. He said that once night while being held and tortured he could hear the women in the next room being raped over and over. He said that no matter how much pain his body was in it hurt much more listening to these women. When I say they were disgusting creatures I am not kidding or exaggerating.
