Hello Thanks for your interest. yadda yadda... I will be completely honest with you regarding dealing at long distance I'm not completely comfortable with it and frankly would like to deal with someone locally, that can view the car and pay me in person, therefore -and I hope you undestand- I will only do this transaction if it's strictly under MY terms If you are truly interested in the vehicle I will not release the vehicle or make any ownership transfer until all the funds are cleared and the cheque to be found legitimate. However long that takes (I might actually prefer a diferent method than a certified cheque. I will consult with my bank for the best method) yadda yadda...And am not willling negotiate those terms I'm also not comfortable giving you my personal information yet, and until I know that you accept these terms. If you do so, please let me know, and I will proceed accordingly Many thanks"

"Thanks for the reply,I am okay with the conditions you have stated as soon as you get hold of the pics, please kindly get it sent to me. Hope to read from you today."

And I wouldn't buy anything from Pogo anyway. The man has a problem, so I don't know how many hits the poor car has taken.
Then you would take a whole lotta umbrage if you knew what umbrage meant, would you? I just learned that word from MM. People say you must try to use all any new word in a sentence so it sticks. I think this should have done the trick for me. Yup, like crazy glue! Speaking of which, next time you get crazy glue on your fingers, just rub some spit on them, works like a charm!

Heeeey???!!! I take umbrage (wait... how do you spell that? Oh, it was right... naturally ) So yeah, as I was saying: WTF, man! I take umbrage at your comment! I happen to be looking for a car! It's getting increasingly impossible for me to be in all the places where I want and need to be lately.

Actually Kijiji is a great place to sell stuff i use that or craigslist(love it) and you just have to weed out the scammers thats all and im sure ur smart enough to know its a scam! plus you post up an email that doesnt exactly show urs its just linked to it! So dogo keep adverstising on there trust me you will sell it but try craigslist its less hassle and easier to use i think
Dogo wrote: Well of course it screams "scam" and I wouldn't release or transfer the car unless it's paid in full (which is what I replied to her message) I guess more than anything.. I wonder how this scam works, if they are paying, or offering to pay, upfront
Here's an idear: sell it, then we'll know and won't have to live with the doubt the rest of our lives.

This is a big time scam and I will try to prove it.

"I'm selling this car that I advertised on Kijiji" - Exhibit A: The suspect appears to be laughing at the ridiculous website where he is selling "his car".
"One person sounded interested,"Exhibit B: The person sounded interested? He clearly states that he is deaf! He can't sound interested!
I sent her a bit more info on the car, yadda yadda, and I got this message (see bellow) Exhibit C: The "more info" is in fact a whole bunch of yadda, yadda, yadda. Actually, not even that! Just yadda, yadda.
Ok, I need clarification for the following:
"Not only does it sound a bit "off" but in the last couple of weeks -also when SEARCHING for a car- I found at least five scams on too-good-to-be-true ads In most cases the cars were advertised in Toronto but when I've contacted them the car is somewhere in who-knows-where because they were just relocated, blah blah blah"
Dogo, did you get that response from the potential buyer?
Now this person wants to buy my car from California as if there are no cars like it (it's a Civic) in Cali Scam or not? how "safe" are certified cheques, really? I say "scam"
"Thanks for your reply, I will like you to know that i cannot come and view the vehicle, because of the distance, and it is so unfortunate for me to call you,due to natural ailment (deaf) i hope this will not be a barrier for me for you to sell your vehicle to me..I will like you to know that am purchasing this vehicle unbehalf of my client,I will like you to email me more pictures of the exterior and the interior of the vehicle for me later today for thorough viewing.Hope the mechanical is intact? Also I will be solely responsible for the shipping of the vehicle, the pick up will be made form your place and convey to California. Please if you seems this is okay with you,I will like you to kindly email me back with your full contact informations and phone number, but i will only call you from my internent Ldd service. If you send me the infos you get the certified check in 2 to 3 working days Hope to read from you today"
Ok, seriously now, yes, Dogo, it's a scam. You know how I know you're gay? Hehehe
Seriously, first of all, if that message that I asked you about was coming from her, that seems rather fishy to me. Why does this person tell you about this? I think that it's to defer attention from herself where then you're the one trying to prove that YOU'RE legit and not the other way around. And the deaf story? C'mon! She's too deaf to be able to complete the transaction with you but not too deaf to do it on behalf of a client? Tell her to get a translator. I also don't like the fact that she emphasizes her inability to come and view the vehicle. I mean, hello, why would you even consider buying a car that is THAT far.
