Back to topic: I went to sooooooo many funerals back home and believe it or not, there was a festive feel to most of them. For us, having so many people dying on a weekly basis, especially young people, it became the "what are you doing this weekend" type of thing. The viewings are a little different back home: people gather at the house of the difunto the night of death and we do the "vela" all night. So people play cards, drink a lot of coffee, gossip and even tell jokes and try to stay awake all night. The funeral was usually the next morning. I don't know how to explain it, but there was pain but it was also a way of socializing. It was weird. In other related news, did you know that in Ireland they pay a group of women, called keeners, to cry at funerals? I always found that custom odd.
You forgot about hard liquour, pan dulce, tamales and pan frances, smokes, and sometimes chistes (jokes), like that Guatemalan guy called " VElorio" who is famous for his wild and dirty jokes.
However, women are supposed to pray the whole night since most guys don't know how to pray anyways (good excuse). So, women remain by the casket, while main "mourn" in another room.
Not where I come from, we didn't!!! (That's where the revolution helped) The women were outside, joking around with the best of them and sometimes outdrinking the men ... and yes, I forgot about the smokes and the hard liquor, but we didn't do tamales; we do rosquillas y nacatamales.

How do you know? How do we define "gone". None of us have died yet to know fer sher. We're all energy and the law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.
Anyway, funerals don't suck, people suck! People who exchange bodily fluids suck!

Yes, the cycle of life and death... or just cycle of life because death is implied in the life part or whatever (I think way faster than I can type of put those thoughts into coherent sentences so don't try to make sense of anything I say). Crying fits into all of the cycle but some people wanna do all of it at the end (and possibly more) so that the deceased will take some of it to the next place where he/she is going.

WHATEVER my point is that funerals suck because they are all sad and stuff.
PORN fixes anything

You've said that before and I tried to test that theory... it's just NOT true. I tried using porn to help bring down my fever the other day, instead I just got hotter!

Funerals don't suck.......what really sucks is being the person that the funeral is for.....now that sucks.

Hey, that person is finally in peace! The sucky part about funerals is the family members. I think it's kinda egotistical to bawl your eyes out when someone dies. It's all part of a cycle.

Yesterday I went to a funeral. It was so sad. Everyone was crying and upset and it got me thinking that this is not how I want to be sent off. I want everyone to party with me one last time. Drinking, smoking and some music. ONE LAST PARTY!!!
What type of funeral do you want?
I WENT TO THE SERVICE ON TUESDAY I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW SAD THE FUNERAL WAS!
AS FOR THE TYPE OF FUNERAL I WOULD LIKE ... I DON'T KNOW!
Yeah it was much worse than the "viewing"
It just got me thinking though he was 86 and that is a nice long life. He was always such a happy man and didn't like seeing people upset. I think that 86 is a nice old age. I just think it should be more of a celebration of the life the person had.
