It is important, and I haven't always been a "Tree hugger" (for lack of a better word) I just kinda read a bit about it - read the book, saw Al Gore on Oprah a while ago, and it clicked in that if we don't do anything about it, no one will! Just like it's our responsibility to take care of our homes, we should have the same equal responsibility about taking care of our planet....
Its not so much for me, cus I probably won't be around when $hit actually hits the fan, but more so for my kids, and my grandkids & great Grandkids.
They have the right to a beautiful planet.... we shouldn't be ruining it for them (Like we are now)
I got rid of a washer and dryer, and a fridge in my basement that sucked hydro like crazy - I plan on making other changes around the house too.
Ok now this is crazy. How would u do laundry con las manos?? & the dishes? OMG then 4 sure I would feel like the worlds is ending right there and then. Ok I will comprimise on the basement fridge, but then taht means get rid of the wine fridge, etc.

Well, Ive seen my friends in Cuba do their laundry this way and it biiiiiiiiiiiiiites.... LOL but I guess you gotta do whatcha gotta do. Funny thing is their clothes always comes out so much cleaner, and whiter.. if it wasn't such a pain in the a s s I'd do it that way tooooooo!!!!!

But light bulbs is a great start.
I don't think we realize how much consumption the regular bulbs take.

Of course people are going to panic in the face of an imminent threat, it's nothing but your survival instinct kicking in. What's the point of worrying about something that is beyond your control? I don't see how what we do in our household will have an impact in reversing or slowing down the damage we are causing the environment as a society. A society that relies on the biggest polluters out there: the industries.
Industries yes, but if we dont use the products those industries push (gas guzzling suv's) and ask for hybrids or more efficient cars to bring down emissions. recycling and encouraging ur neighbours/friends to.......theres all kindsa things we could do I do reccoemend readin (if ur like Argentina) or watchin (like me) Al Gore's inconveneint truth.

I am thinking of the children and that's why I'm not having any until I am united with my mother ship and taken to a safe place where I can procreate without regard.

I have not made any serious changes that I can think of The lightbulbs are regular lighbulbs - I guess when one burns, I should buy the energy saving bulbs! I sometimes drive the car when I am going around the corner or a few blocks away - I should walk, exercise is good and burning less gas should be a plus for the environment. OH WAIT: I DO do something - I recycle all my newspapers, plastic/milk containers, wine bottles, etc., but I can do more I am sure. Most of us can.
