In reference to Dannyboi: You can take the boi out of the ghetto; but you can't take the ghetto out of the boy!

Where did you grow up? Farrrrrrrr away from here

What was ghetto about your area if anything? The builbings next door to my school where the manouche (Gispy) where living and the look was between a prison and and fenced camp...and not that nice

Most ghetto fabulous moment of your life? many I guess but i have to admit that I have a terrible memory but I have to say that MJ gave some pretty good examples. Also discovering that those guys were great and had a very high sense of loyality, not always use the right way but that is a different story. Ohhh and i almost forgot...a VERY big mouth...I am still waitingto get my ass kicked more than 20 years later LOL

You know you are ghetto when.......confused still thinking about a line here.

I wouldnt consider myself "hood" or "ghetto"... to me those words have a really negative connotation to them.  I grew up in an average neighborhood... nothing really 'hood' about it... just average

Actually yes the word Ghetto can sound negative.

On this thread I mean Ghetto Fabulous!!  I don't mean it in a negative way!!!

I was born and raised in Scarlem!!!  Midland and Lawrence - BRAP BRAP!!!  I have a brother that is 5 years older than me so I never had any fear of anything happening to me in or around my area.  Everyone knew who he was and who his friends were.  The local 7-11 was the hangout.  Cops around every day.  Someone we knew was always "away".  I lived down the street from what everyone (including those who were actually from India or Pakistan) used to call Curry Castle, Hindu heaven and Turban towers! I saw many things at a young age I probably should not have. When I was in my early teens my parents finally got us out thanks to LOTS of hard work.  I still love the area though.

M&L!!!!!!

You know you are ghetto when you search for pop bottles to trade for candy moneybiggrin

My poor folks still live in my old area. Islington and Finch. Our barrio is made up of like 40 or something townhomes. There are 2 latino families (including ours) and 3 African families. The rest are Jamaicans. S h i t t y thing though is that where my folks crib is, there are a flight of stairs that lead to our door. The ONLY flight of stairs in the WHOLE hood. So....all the mayates ens up sitting there tapando camino a uno and smoking up.....We've had bullets lodged into our doors....One time while my niece was playing nearby!!!!!! I had to dive under my dad's van one time cuz some negro came out of nowhere and started spraying the guys i was talking to.
PERO...gracias a Dios....nothing bad has ever happened to me or my family. We've always been friendly to everyone and they've always respected us. I guess after they watched Blood in Blood Out or American Me, they know not to mess with the Messicans!!!!..lolbiggrin

You know you are ghetto when you open your 1970 model freezer in the basement, put a fan in front of it and call it A/C!biggrin
