Danny I have said it before and I'll say it again 25/26 is NOT that young.  At that age I was mature enough to not think of a 30 year old as an old fart.  In fact I prefered men that age.  Not sure where you get this idea that you are a teen?weirdface

shrug.gif

Like you said, salsa at Ontario Place..........good ol' Atlantis!!!!  thumbsup.gif

I don't think age has anything to do with it.  My taste in music hasn't changed from my clubbing days to now.  It's the PEOPLE that go.  I remember concerts, all the girls would be in a nice dress or just a nice outfit, now it's just jeans/shorts and a bra!!!  no.gif  You had your bad seeds back then but they were NEVER as bad as these little wannabe hood rats now.

And yes, I agree, it's all about the big $ nowadays when it comes to promoters!!!!  thumbsdown.gif  Yes, lets bring legendary performers to the Jamaican Canadian Assocation Hall, Driftwood Community Center, and (like Chale said) ACE PLACE!!!!!

You've gotta be f@cking kidding!!!!  bleh.gif

Priviledge was one.  Magnatz is another.  Former Club 108 is another.

CHALE there was a club for every night back then

Tues - BERLIN which was a WICKED salsa dancing type of crowd
Wed - original park avenue mix of young and old
Thurs - Fragatta when it was good mix crowd and not as skanky
Fri - SABOR, babalu, momentos, rancho (last resort), las brisas on Milvan
Saturday was all about Plaza but there were other options
Sunday RUMBA NIGHT

I know there are some I am missing

Now you mentioned two.  Are they even rammed every weekend?

Even though I wasnt asked specifically for my opinion (evileye.gifno.gif), I'll still tell you why... nana.gif

The reason why it sucks for you now is b/c you're grown.  If you were a youngin in these times you'd love the club scene b/c thats what these guys are into now a days.  Kids now a days dont want elegance and sofistication, they dont care if a club is nice or if its in a nice location.  They dont care, as long as drinks are cheap, they really dont care where they go or what the place looks like.

Your welcome smile.gif

I totally agree. It may be hard to accept that as you grow up your taste for clubs, and entertaiment changes. I m only 23 and I rather spend my sats in Niagara ( so much to do there), restaurants and once in a while I ll be hittinh the clubs.. but 2 years ago I was at privilage, plaza, babalu every week...

@Chile
a spot that stays pack everyweek is babalu ( although its very expensive)

Although I may agree that before there were better concerts, events such as latinfest were a lot better ..( now days you ll get some artist noone even knows)

I remember the good old days when Sabor Latino used to have THE BEST PICNICS in the UNIVERSE!!! There were wicked concerts at nice banquet halls that were always PACKED. The club itself was ALWAYS amazing week after week. LA hollywood used to be AMAZING! Park Aveunue (the original) was WICKED! Hell even Rumba Night was worth it. There was always somewhere amazing to go. Now they are all blah.

It just seems like the latin scene isn't as good anymore. There are a few events here and there that seem to be okay but nothing like back in the day.

Anyone agree? Why do you think it's changed so much?hmm

The reggaeton has nothing to do with it disbelief.gif
it aint even popular enough in the city..and plus djs only play the same tracks over and over again...more salsa artists came down then reggaeton artists for concerts

the salsa scene here predominates like it always has....its just that i dont know people got bored of the same clubs? promoters not bringing down good artists? no se anyhow..

the latin scene here gets me bored aveces...

i highley recommend a trip to la gran manzana number1.gif were hispanics rule and have such a vibrant prescence in the city

Yeah I think promoters are a big part of the problem.

If all the kids like reggaeton then perhaps they think they won't sell out a different type of concert.

EVERYONE claims to be a promoter these days too and I am not sure if ANYONE is doing things right.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't know

The problem are the BAD PROMOTERS, i don't mind paying 80 to 100 for a good show. but paying and getting a ticket won't secure me that the artist will show up or i will get the enterteinment i pay for.

To confirm one of my thoughts, I want to see how many pple will be ****ing about the price of the ticket to go see Gilberto Santa Rosa !!!!

No wonder why it is so hard to have an artist, fuera del ragatoni scene and even those are not that safe, coming up here and perform.

Humm you may have a point.  With the exception of Sabor Latino Picnic with El General there wasn't much reggaetoni going on back then - THANK GOD!!

Dogo the concerts were so good even a non dancer like yourself would have LOVED them!!

Anyone go to the Jerry Rivera concert that was a good one even though he sounds like a$$....ahhh the good old days!!!

Ok, I obviously can't talk about that time since I wasn't here but all I can tell you is that if promoter and club owners will be a bit more selective/strick into the crowd they let in, you would have way better nights.

Because it is not a money issue, pple do have the money and if not, then stay away for temptation...sorry, life is hard but that's the truth.

I personally don't mind paying a higher door fee if it will give me a good night. Pple be honest , many will rant for 5 to 10 dollars (I am talking to get in) but look how much we spend per week in stupidness. So really money is not the issue, pple are being cheap just because they feel like it. Mind you, if they will get in for free, I am sure they will still complain not to have receive a rebate or something.

Que suban las entradas y selecccionen sus gente van a ver como no se mejoraran las noches !

I am not saying English clubs are better. Just look @ the ent. district, all those clubs that are charging nothing or almost nothing have the same problem as the latin clubs. The re is no secret to success, create an atomosphere that pple will enjoy and feel safe to go to and you'll win.

There is so much to say about that topic but I can already feel the animosity coming so sprint.gif

no **** sherlock!  The question was WHY?  You think it's because Latinos are hitting gringo clubs?

I think it might have something to do with the people organizing such events now.  What clubs are really being run properly these days in the latin scene?  Something is missing.  Frig I wish Carlos Zappata would come out of retirement already!!!!

Anyone remember Salsa night at Ontario Place on Thursdays?cry
