i think its time to recruit some 20-22 year peeps to join the foro
no offence to anyone here...but im 25 ..and i dont share the same views or live the same life that many of u do already...kids marriage etc ..no no none of that for me thank you...at least not now...
only older person i can kick it back with is miss argentina we think alike in many things...
I think it would be easier if YOU just found a younger foro to go to. Recruitment is hard work Danny. Look at how long you have been saying that and I don't think it's going to happen here. Or just start a new foro and get your friends to join.
Can't we all just get along!
Hahhaa ..... Now now, everyone on this foro is fun! Danny included. No need for a "YOUNGER" foro.... this one is jussssssssssst fine.
Oh no you took it the wrong way. It was a suggestion. He is always saying he has NOTHING in common with anyone here and thinks it's boring. I am just saying if that is so another foro might be better for him. Younger audience might "understand" him.
Ok. I mis-read that...... funny, whenever I talk to Danny he is very mature.... I think he gives off the wrong impression on here... I dunno.

I suppose calling a complete stranger a slut could come across as mature and give people the wrong impression.

As we get older we go thru changes, lifestyles, phasesthe other day something made so realize that I AM over 30. Im not too sure why but this kid I know (20-21 y.o) invited me to his birthday party. Ive had a few beers with him and his buddies couples of times so he probably thought I was kinda cool. It is going to be great, full of chicks, dance drinks he said. I actually got excited there for a minute. So, I was stupid enough to go.
At one point during the party all the kids were dancing reageton (I dont mind reageton btw); they all looked so freaking young, so into the moment, simply having a great time. They had this look in their face: I am incapable of articulating a complete sentence and I dont give a ****, lifes great!
The place was a ****hole and they all kept saying how it was the best party of the summer, a few of them even said it was the best party of their lives! Then they switched to hip hop or rap or some crap like thatand I was liketime to go home. I got out of there, got in my car and as the CD started automatically to play of my favorite songs, it reminded me that, yes, I am not 21 anymoreit is not to too bad actually
I just turned 30. I don't think there is anything wrong with being 30 and still going out for a girls night on occasion or with my husband. Thirty is far from dead. I know in the latin community where people have kids SUPER young it seems old but in reality and in any other scene it isn't old at all in fact most of my non latin friends are NOT married or settled down yet.
I just think the quality of latin clubs and events such as concerts has gone WAY down in a bad way no matter what age you are.

People who are old enough to remember Rumba Night still go to clubs? Can I ask why??? ****, I've go to go guys, my kids are at it again....
By this I don't want to offend anybody.. but if you are older than 30 , most likely you are not going to like clubs where most people are 18, 19 and early 20s... you can not expect a club to be like it was 10 years ago.. music taste changes, style change ( the wat people dress)... However there is still clubs that have the mature crowd coming in ( babalu, el rancho, plaza )... My point is that most of this new clubs coming out are not going to be like la rumba ( i dont even remember this club)...
Wow this thread is long, but great. I agree with my hairy upper lipped and footed friend Chale. The reason it's not the same is cause we're older. Back in the day I didn't care about quality of the club, or even the music. I went to latin clubs for the girls cause Lord knows I can't dance spanish music to save my life. I just went wherever my fake ID and $20 could get me in
Think of it. Most people our age(25 +) complain about the crowd saying it's too ghetto or too young. If you were younger you wouldn't think that.
To be honest I don't really care about the crowd that their except for the group I'm with. I think the people around you make the party, and not the strangers in the club
But yeah the quality of hispanic events has dropped, but we should make the most of it if we decide to attend cause otherwise we're making a bad situation worse.

Ummmmm yah.... so ummm.. yah.. promoters here suck. Well, not all.. just the ones that call themselves promoters cuz they can fire off an email to their contact list but dont know the first thing about pleasing the people.

but the new clubs need to take a page from Babaluus....i remember back in the day their dress code was so tight, I hated to go there........but with time they created this clientelel that have stuck with them till now and given the club a name and a good/safe environment.......thats what makes a club successful, not how many people u can get in a night but how many of the people come back.
~X
It's not just the dress code. The music they play also keeps that certian crowd. They don't play stupid crapy music.
That in mind Babalu isn't my favorite club. I have not been there in a while but I used to find it way too small and way too white.
yes they do at times i'm like but like i said they have their clientele that keeps coming back.

A couple of things ppl dont understand is yes promoters now a days are cheap! they dont want to pay for proper security and would rather pocket the most money possible!!
But many banquet halls no longer open there doors and if they do they are charging way way too much for the rental of the venue!!
Remember a couple of years ago the India Concert at Constellation hotel and a few others well after the India concert a fight broke out and low and behold Constellation no longer allows events such as concerts
Other things are the Artists are jacking up there prices so its alot more expensive to bring them here how ever for classic artists im sure ppl will pay good money!
In Montreal they have amazing concerts one being larger latin community and many different venues!
I think it had to do with promoter credibility and the change in latin music altogether. I think within the latin scene, live music is dead. the gringos welcome it though.... thankfully. Sabor Latino was the $H!+...hands down. They would organize huge concerts that ended up benefiting other latin businesses that would put up stands in the event. The music scene went from LATIN stuff to what we now call....Latin/everythingelse.
All things come full circle....hopefully we'll have an honest promoter come out of the blue...
NOoooooooooooo it's not dead! I think if a wicked artist came to a good venue we would go. We may be a bit older and married but we aren't DEAD. I think we would all go see a show that was worth our while.
Promoters I tell you. They suck.

Another reason why concerts arent as great as they were before... money. Back in the day people wouldnt mind paying to see a good show and they wouldnt mind paying to see a big act. Also, the people who brought the artists knew how to treat them properly and show them the proper respect that they deserved... a nice venue to play at, a crowd that really enjoyed the music and an overall nice atmosphere... but now, look at where they bring artists... to flippen ACE PLACE. Have you ever been there? Lawd... thats where the spawn of all things ghetto are born.
FO SHO!
That is why I say I wish Zappata would come out of retirement. He knew how to run an event. Over crowded sometimes but otherwise smooth. He treated artists like the stars that they are and never dissapointed a crowd. He was serious about his business.
