she is a canadian lady...doesnt know much about latin america...reasons why shes asking these questions....so all i said was to be easy on her..in case someone were to flip out and say something stupid...

when i said "gringuita" i was totaly refering to her being from here...(by the way at no point did i mean this to be some sort of racial thing just in case wink

)..

someone like myself can go to a specific city in your colombia and not no **** all ...therefore i will ask questions to people who r from there to get a better opinion about what to do where to go etc..

and yes many people from different ethnicities and backrounds are unaware of certain places to travel too......hince! thats why im here to help the agents to adivise their clients about certain precautions they should take when travelling..

I can defend myself when it comes to central america...u know the basic knowledge .. capitals cities towns ..where they r located ...currency culture tourist resorts..etc...

but i just felt that it would be a good alternative to ask central americans in the foro since some of them can share their experiences...

if someone travelling to ecuador wanted advice from me on where to go and where to stay..HELL YEAH!!

ill be more then happy to sit down with them and give them as much detail as possible ...no matter if you are white black brown asian..or a an ecuadorian-canadian....

anyhow i think i proved my point to you...

on another note to all you tourists.. BOOK! BOOK! trips to the royal de cameron salinitas...in san salvador...roatan in honduras..san andres in colombia...those destinations are going to be big time popular this fall and winter...

plz dont be misguided and chose the typical cancun or varadero destinations...theres alot of good things out there as well ..especially those places mentioned^^

I've never done it but I know some guys who've done it several times. They recommend drivers to wait for other cars in the USA/Mexico border and travel in group. Traveling at nigth is not recommended, and drivers have to have loose cash or little things such as baseball caps for bribes ( mordidas). She shouldn't drive alone, and should know some basic spanish other than "una cerveza por favor".
Once in El Salvador she'll see gringos anywhere, they dress like hippies but are safe, lately there are gringos working and living in several areas, usually in San Salvador and La Libertad. Three years ago I saw several gringuitas travelling by bus but I wouldn't recommend it unless accompanied by a local. smile

tell her its very dangerous! I can tell you this from expereince we used to do this with my dad go from here Toronto all the way to el salvador and one time we went all the way to panama!

Guatemala is dangerous we got pulled over by the cops three times and had to pay them off (my dad was asaltado/ carjacked) twice and he was traveling with another guy!

El Salvador - right now i would not recommend her go there trust me unless she stays to the costa or the highway but doesnt stop unless its for gas!!!

Costa rica was pretty safe when we travelled

And panama was safe (we were told to stick to the toursit sites but im talking about 7 years ago!!)

Tell her to travel with someone and not to wear jewelry and expensive clothing also to carry her money in her shoes! all her ids to be kept somewhere that its not easy to find and if she can tape the to the bottom of the sseat then good! this i recomend when shes going in guatemala and el salvador!

who has ever drove across central america? like from point a to point b.... or even if it was within for example 3 countries..do u know anyone who has?...my friend wants to do that ..shes going to guatemala next week..for a month..and be easy on her shes a gringuita so she doesnt know much...and is fulll fascinated with discovering central america..

so any usefull tips? time it will take roughly?

ps she wants to venture down to ecuador if she has time lol...i know i know cut her some slack blankstare
