Dogo I am not a sore loser I swear I am not. it was not a loss it was a robbery...you know that. Perhpas Argentina would have won anyway but this game was a robbery.

And I agree that the ref sucked yadda yadda, BUTa robbery no se, not in my opinion. That would sound like the game or the goals were practically given to Argentina. A robbery wouldve been penalty shots that didnt exist, annulled goals, red cards for no reason. I think that, the ref, after the first goal, seeing things were a little heated on the Chilean sidein an effort to make a clean game (which ended up doing quite the opposite) went waaaay overboard and called every foul possible foul against Chile (and yes, many being dives) but also against argentina, the difference argentina, maybe, took a bit of advantage of Chiles more aggressive play and frustration, dove like crazy, and got many free kicks that shouldnt have (which made for a very interrupted game) Other than that, Im not sure what else we can say that the ref gave to Argentina Did he not grant any legitimate goals for Chile? Did he grant any goals to Argentina that they didnt make? None of the goals were product of any of those free kicks, or any freebies from the ref I understand the frustration in the Chilean team having a goal in the net a player down, so early in the game, and I think that their frustration got the best of them, and had a lot to do with getting on the refs bad side, possibly The first goal was with both teams having all players. Would you say that was an unfair goal? The first red card was, IMO, I didnt see the plat prior but I thought it was a fair call. It wasnt the ref who made him kick the Argentinian player, with no ball in play and out of bounds. What did he expect to get? And THAT wasnt the refs fault
The 2nd and 3rd goal were also clean goals, and not a product of a refs call. Would you say they were? I think the game wouldve been more fun to watch and much cleaner if the ref wasnt such a dumba$$ but Im not sure it determined the winner of the game. Maybe less goals, who knows, but the goals were there and they were all clean, none of them were an offside that wasnt called, or a penalty, or product of anything that the ref called or didnt call, so, I dunno
No question the first goal was not only with all players but also AMAZING!!!
The red card was for nohting the play back is all over the net..he never actually touched the argentino that is the contraversy....then another STUPID red card. Like I said I dont know what the final score could have been and now I'll never know
The red card wasn't for nothing. It was for the player's intention, not the actual contact Say a player spits at the ref, or at a player of the opposite team, and misses.. technically he didn't really "do" anything... but what do you think he's going to get?

It kinda brought memories of our soccer in Ecuador, meaning how passionate the crowed gets & the luv shown in those fans. I luved it.
See as to the game outcome overall it was a harsh game, both were very aggressive & played with their hearts. Regardless some1 had to win & Argentina won, so Congratz to them & good luck in the final Game.

I was there last night when things got out of hand. The whole thing was because security/police would not allow the team to greet and thank fans. Would that happen if the leafs wanted to get close their fans - I think not. A chilean player wanted off the bus to come say hi to all of us that were there cheering for them....he was man handled by a security officer and other players stepped in...all hell broke loose after that.
You are right the media in Canada seems to be reporting two things today
1)chilean players were out of control
2) the ref sucked a$$

ONE QUESTION: WHERE THE HELL WERE WE WHEN CONDORITO JUMPED IN THE FIELD??
we were down two men and it was a robbery any way you look at it but whatever it really doesn't matter. When a fifa ref is going to steal a game from you there is nothing anyone can do so congrats on getting to the semi finals but I am not too sure how much Argentina deserves to be in the finals. Of course we will never know.
NOW I will cheer for Argentina anways because they are the only south americans left or I might join the thousands of Chilenos going to Sundays game and protest along with them
KIDDING I wouldn't do that plus my husband is Argetino after all and let's not forget BABY CHILE is really BABY CHILE/ARGENTNA
Condorito going on the field was the highlight of my very DARK night...where were you??? God only knows probably hitting on a chileno somewhere
BTW you are fun to go to games with even if you are one of them

A Chilean player makes his way out of a window of the team bus following a confrontation between police and players after last night's ill-tempered Under-20 World Cup game.
Anger on the soccer field turned into turmoil off it Thursday night as members of the Chilean under-20 team slugged it out with police and security after a bitter semifinal loss at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
A member of the Chilean delegation was subdued by taser during the brawl, which developed as players were loading onto their team bus following their ill-tempered 3-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinal at the National Soccer Stadium near the Toronto waterfront.
A FIFA spokesman said early Friday that no arrests had been made, although the entire Chile team was detained by police at the stadium after the incident.
"All (Chilean) players have been released from custody of the police to care of the Chilean delegation," FIFA spokesman John Schumacher said.
Nathan Denette said he was outside the stadium with a fellow CP photographer when they heard grumbling then yelling near the Chilean team bus after the game.
"All of a sudden we looked over and there was a big brawl that breaks out, between four or five people," Denette said. "Next thing you know, the bus just unloads and there's eight, 10 players come off the bus and there's just fists flying everywhere, between the cops, the security guards, a couple of ladies were involved that were security.
"It looked like a big dogfight. People throwing fists and cops with their billyclubs out and then all of a sudden it got out of control and a police officer grabbed his taser gun and tasered someone I don't know if he was a player or if he was part of the team as soon as that happened, it got even worse."
The bus was parked at the side of the stadium, where a large fence kept hundreds of angry, chanting fans from getting closer. A tow truck arrived later to take the damaged team bus away.
"We heard this big bang . . . it was just commotion after commotion after commotion," Denette said. "Some of the players were trying to get players back on the bus. But some were furious they were trying to get back off the bus. And then they opened up the windows on the bus and were throwing things at the officers. And then all of sudden, they were trying to grab them from the inside of the bus. And it just escalated."
It was not immediately clear whether the man tasered was a player or official with the Chilean team.
Police eventually handcuffed several players, some of them bloodied and screaming, and escorted them back into the dressing room while shocked FIFA and Canadian soccer officials looked on. Several hours after the game ended, Chilean players involved in the fracas were still at the stadium.
"The players are still in the dressing room and we don't know what's going to happen next," Colin Linford, president of the Canadian Soccer Association, told The Canadian Press.
Linford said while FIFA officials were on hand, police had taken charge of the situation.
FIFA, the world governing body of soccer, held a news conference at the stadium at 1:15 a.m. shortly after the players were allowed to leave.
"The entire situation is under investigation by FIFA, the LOC (local organizing committee), the police authorities in Toronto as well as the Chilean delegation," said Schumacher.
"The Chilean players were detained by the police to de-escalate the situation that was taking place in front of the stadium," he added.
Two Chilean players were ejected during the loss. The game was an ill-tempered affair with nine yellow cards seven to Chile and two to Argentina in addition to the two red cards. German referee Wolfgang Stark called 53 fouls 30 against Chile.
When the final whistle blew, several Chilean players tried to get at the officiating crew. Others stepped in to keep them away. Two police officers escorted the officiating crew off the pitch, but they stopped as they neared the tunnel, eyeing the angry crowd.
Eventually they made a run for it, dashing to the safety of the tunnel below the stands.
The post-match melee happened as reporters were elsewhere in the stadium, attending the coaches' post-match news conference.
"The players were upset. They're young players," Chile coach Jose Sulantay said through an interpreter, referring to the melee on the playing field after the final whistle. "The red card affected them.
"The coaching staff tried to calm them down, but there were upset with the ref and the red cards."
Outside security officials kept reporters at the mixed zone well away from the brawl. Reporters inside the stadium were prevented from coming outside.
Chile is scheduled to play Austria in the third-place game on Sunday before the final between Argentina and the Czech Republic at BMO Field, which has been renamed the National Soccer Stadium during the tournament because of sponsorship issues.
The brawl is a major embarrassment to FIFA, which earlier congratulated organizers for setting a ticket sales record for the tournament. The U-20 competition is FIFA's second biggest tournament, behind only the World Cup.
More details are expected at a FIFA news conference later Friday.

Funny the news in Canada, Argentina Venezuela etc all said that the chilean players deserve to get arrested for creating caos and not respecting the autorithy but i saw the news from chile and they fisrt don't tell you why they got arrested but putting a lot of enfasis on the police 'abused' and even the father of the chilean golie say that he wont be satisfy with a apology from the canadian police HE WANTS MORE (maybe MONEY).
I think the lost afected even the profesionalismo of the chilean reporters.
This is only my opinion but maybe the chilean players pensaron que because they are famous (in chile) they could be rebels and will never get arrested in Canada.
To bad for chile re****tion the got a great team but Argentina were smart they play with their mind and feet, drove the players and fan crazy got the goals with is wat count and left with a VICTORY.

I saw only some of the game, cause I had soccer..from what I saw chile played hard, even with the one man down, but what i didn't like was at the end when they tried to attack the ref, now i know in soccer the emotions get the best out of you, but u got to reliazes you are PROFFESIONAL SOCCER PLAYERS, and u got to take the loss EVEN if your were wronged.. Yes there was a lot of Diving in the part of the Argentina players, but hello it argentina, it like facing Italy in a game, but Chile was doing it to from what I saw VIDEL#14 for chile was trying to get the penalty kick, i don't think it would have been 3-0, but 2-0, no one in they right mind with a full squad, would have save those last two goal Argentina did..

My predictions were right about this game. ...Not about the score but of the fights. It was an ugly ending to the game which I think could've been a lot better if both teams weren't practising their diving techniques and tackling the hell out of eachother...to me it was too much of a love for the rivalry than a love for the game The ref was definately card happy and when he was supposed to make the right calls...he simply didn't. I was hearing on the news that the Chilean players ended up clashing with the police and even one of them got tasered. Very sad. Both teams are of very high quality and it's sad that this ended like that. One thing I saw on television that alot of people probably didn't notice was the good heart of the Argentinian coach. Instead of jumping up and down with the Argentinian boys savouring their win, he spent that whole time consoling and hugging the heartbroken chilean players. I think that was amazing sportsmanship. There was even a segment (on CBC) where they showed the Argentinian coach and the Chilean coach side-by-side BOTH giving the ref an earful. That's a definate sign that they both knew the german ref was licking mad ballz... I have to give it to Chile though...they were playing a hard game even though they were down a man.

@Chilenita I have to agree with u 100% as u know i was going for Argentina but after what i saw at the end of the game i was disgusted Anyways, I don't think the Argentina team was the better team, I mean Chile was playing with 10 players and still made them run like chickens with their heads cut off The one thing that killed the Chile team was them selfs, mentally they lost it and didn't take the first gol that well. One thing i have to desagree tho is that Argentina should win it all, In my oppinion Argentina has been lucky the last 2 games and don't think they are the better team, so I'm going for them.
@MJ it would have made a big diff, thats for sure.
~X
I agree with you, Argentina is got lucky in the last two games, I am sorry but Mexico played much better than them.... That gol that Argentina had was just an error on Mexico's part.... Ohh Yea and all the diving too.
I watched last night's game and I have to say, Chile was the better team...
Lets see what happens at the Finals.... I want Argentina to win, not becasue they are better but becasue they are a latin country... Even when most Argentinas think they are more European than latinos hahahahahaha..... (Not all of them, but most of the ones I know)

Let's just say everything was FAIR........do you think the results would've been different? You know with the diving and confusion and all??
-- Edited by Motown Junkie at 09:40, 2007-07-20
YES the outcome would have been different simple reason being less cards and chile would have had the same players on the team! Now a days Reffs can give u a card for giving them cut eye its pathetic but i truly beleive had the reff been more on a nutral level the game would have been different!
you know what both teams played so good but i think the chile team was taken over by EMOTIONS i think they were more about trying to beat there biggest rivals in soccer that they didnt stick to there playing tactics! which is sad they are so talented and so is argentina I do agree that last nights game was no where near there playing they were diving like girls!!! the one fake kick that the chileno did and the argentino dived and the ref called i think it was a card was clearly not fair but then most calls against chile were not!! and thats the truth! Argentina got lucky and took full advantage! however there first goal was a FAWKEN NICE GOAL i mean it was beautiful!
But thats my opinon and i was cheer for neither team since i wasnt allowed but CHILE DID GET CHEATED I TRULY BELIEVE THAT AND IF UR A TRUE SOCCER FAN AND KNOW THE GAME U CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT!!!
So this was the the headline for the article re:last nights game in this mornings METRO. Sounds a lot like what is in most papers and sounds a lot like what sports EXPERTS are saying around the world. It's a shame that this game went the way it did. I was expecting the best game of the tournament with CLEARLY the two best teams. Instead what we got was a clear ROBBERY in anyone's eyes that knows anything about the game including the MANY Argentinos that I know. It's sad when **** like this happens. It would have been nice to watch a fair game, it would have been much more interesting. I can accept a loss against Argentina anytime in fact I rather loose against them than any other country because they have always been the best in the world in my eyes but not like this. Last nights game was disgusting.
For those like Don Playero who say don't use this as an excuse....well it's obvious you didn't watch or you know nothing about the sport.
Anyways I have said it before and I'll say it again I am still proud of the team. We made it MUCH further than most. I hope it's a sign of what the future holds for Chilean soccer!
Now I'll cheer for Argentina! I hope they win this weekend. Afterall the robbery is really not their fault...any team would take advantage of it.
