@ X - it's AMAZINg how generous people can be. clap.gif

If we had more ppl. like this our waiting list will move quicker.

Althou this is such an awesome gesture, I'm honest cus I don't think I would be tough enough to do wat he did for his asst. I would DEFENITLY do it for a loved one, with no doubt.

Boss donates kidney to his office assistant

MORGANTON, N.C. When doctors told Lisa White she needed a kidney transplant to stay alive, she never expected her boss to sign up as a donor.

Chris Jernigan, the director of Southmountain Children and Family Services in Nebo, said he had watched White, his friend and colleague of more than 11 years, struggle to come into work.

the rest of the story HERE!

@ LC - if ur friend was ever in that situation no doctor will let her die to save some else's life, that's just unethical.

Now as to signing the card as ur wish is great, but all Dr. have to still get the consents of ur loved ones, before they go ahead, so I have mine signed, but if my family at the time of my death say no, then it's a final NO, even after I signed the card. That's why we can't push/highlight enough the IMPORTANCE that it is that each person talks to their loved ones about their wishes after they are dead & for it to be respected.

But I do understand that lady, like her many other think the same or have other crazy ideas like that.

the mother of a friend of mine has an interesting logic as to why she does not sign her donor card... she feels that if she signs the card and is in some tragic accident where survival is 50/50, she thinks the hospital staff will not fight as hard to save her because there is a man in ROOM 4B that really needs a heart and meh.. she's half dead anyway. morbid but an interesting logic nonetheless...

either way, she's already told her family that if she were in that sort of situation and she was unsalvageable than her wish is that her organs be donated but she would want her family to make that decision.

Great cause!  thumbsup.gif

I have an organ donor card in my wallet and my health card has it noted on the back as well.

I don't know why people have such a big hoopla over donating the organs of their loved one (unless it's for religious reasons).  We don't need anything once we're dead anyways!!!  shrug.gif
