Calgary, right now 2 rooms is going for $900 or way, prices are getting ridiculus. Sure there are alot of jobs, but try to get rent or a house. Thanks for the comments and I will take a look at Montreal also. Excuse my ignorance but to live in Montreal is it very necessary to know French???

I would say yes it is necessary to know French but Montreal has that particularity of being a complement of english speaking and french speaking people on the same island-city. Why ? 40% of the population of Montreal speaks both French and English....but English speaking people mainly in the west part of the island and French speaking people lives mainly in the east part of the island of Montreal.

So, If you intend to live and find a job on the west part of the island-city of Montreal, you can live you life in english without even speaking French. For example, there are generations of english speaking people who up to today don't know how to speak French. That why we often hear that famous debate about French and English in this province and in extension at the federal government level (it explain also why you got a strong presence of the BLOC QUÉBÉCOIS in the house of common).
On the other end, in the east part of Montreal, you just can't through your everyday life without speaking in French. St-Laurent boulevard is what separate this city in 2 sections but it reunites French and English people without forgetting immigrants spread on both side of the city. For my part, I live on the east part of this multicultural city. Today, 45% of Montreal population (2 million people) is made of immigrants decent.  If you find a rent near a metro station (subway station) you could pay like 500$ or 600$ for a rent and downtown it could go up to 850$/month. For my part i pay 470$/month but the nearest metro station is at 30 minutes by taking city buses. This city is not boring at all. People aren't stiff, we are relax and down to earth but we got caracter too.
Quebecers are open minded and at the same time, they are also ready to defend their language and culture but they expect and apreciate people who, at least, make an effort to learn French even though you are not fluent in French. After all, Québec province is the only french corner in North America (and co-founder of with Ontario and the native of this country called Canada) and it is just normal for them to try to keep it that way.

Bienvenue, Bienvenido, Welcome

Quality of life?  Good. Social oriented city as well as a business city. Snob people: not at all...maybe a small section of downtown where we can qualify people of snob but generally speaking Mtl is a sociable city.

Cost of living ?  Cheap. I mean very cheap. Clothes, food and other regular stuff doesn't cost a lot. Even clubbing : To get into a club, the cover is 10$ at the top but most charge between 4$ and 8$ to get in.

Rent & housing? Not expensive, for example I pay a rent 470$/ month for 2 rooms, bathroom, living room and the kitchen.

hispanos? Big time hispano presence in Montréal especialmente en el barrio hispano. Very visible in the subway, buses and on the road. Se habla español en la calle sin problema especialmente en la calle St-Hubert, cerca del metro Jean-Talon.

Example of hispanics presence in Montréal:

Weather ? Same thing as in T.O.

thanks for the info Danny. I was looking at the rents and Calgary is REALLY getting expensive. In regards to the Latinos, I expect it will be no where close to Miami and Dallas but I do expect it to be a bit better than Calgary. At least you guys have decent Hispanic concerts, sites, festivals etc... Hey Calgary weather (-39c). I dont know what couls be worse.
Danny are there communties you would recomend?? to possibly rent a 3 brd house and price?

Quality of life?...........pretty good..safe city for the most part....with a fair amount of of opportunites..

Cost of living?.....expensive you gotta work your ass off like in any other north american big city

Rent & housing? expensive if you want to live in a good area..altho u gotta look around to find some hidden good areas

hispanos?...if you think there are alot of hispanos just like in miami or dallas....no such thing..take a ride on the subway or drive downtown..its very rare that you will find numbers of hispanics in one spot ...they are just spread out but not visible enough..

i love my city...it could use a lil more things to improve ..but overall i got used to it ;p..

Oh yeah winter can get very ugly here..

I have have lived in Miami, Dallas, Sanitago (Chile) and grew up in Calgary. Im currently living in Calgary and wanted to know what it was like to live in Toronto??? Cost of living, rent, housing, jobs, hispanos??? Im kind of sick of "cowtown". Sure its booming but it is getting up there in terms of expense. I know Toronto is expensive but I want to hear why YOU like or not like to live in Toronto??? I think I have seen everything there is to see in Calgary and really I think it would be great to get to know TO and the areas around TO. Look forward to your comments.
