Why did I tell PL to F-Off?

Let's see, he claims to be a new member when he surely isn't. He claimed to be every foro member including myself. He adds people on FB without them knowing his real identity. He seems to know a lot about us regular members when he continues to state he is new.

And then he has the BALLS to tell us to be careful with identity theft and networking sites.

Need I say more?

Like you - I would just much rather be on the "safer" side and not post much about myself online. Internet is cool and has a lot of pluses: we can do research, educate, and entertain ourself to no end. But there are those out there that are on the prowl and will try to use it in a manner to benefit themselves. I am one to keep myself as safe from those as possible.

@Chale: I totally agree with you. Everyone has their preference and if you choose to not show a pic that's cool. Heck, I have friends on my list still with that question mark and I know they'll never put a pic but doesn't mean I'm going to be insinuating that people who post everything are hurting and are striving for self-validation. Some people are super carefree and don't care at all. I'm not saying that's a good idea either but I'm not going to insult people who do.

Again back to MM, I think the way I write makes it look like I'm taking it personal but I'm just defending geeks like my little brother.

There is nothing wrong with networking, I'm all for it. But the point of this thread is to show the dangers of such websites.

Yeah, I brought all that nonsense onto myself but I sure as hell am not going to blame it on Facebook! My own actions got me into it.

If we're going to disect Facebook and discuss its "dangers", why not disect MySpace, or even 411.com?! Did you know you can search for people's phone numbers on that site? Or what about that other website, classmates.com???

Now we're discussing the "dangers" of Facebook when two seconds ago we were talking about people who post videos, pics and join numerous groups as if they "don't have a life".

Well, let's see.........Colombiana, maybe you should take down your pics because..........well, you have more than one up, secondly, I think you're kind of bragging that you have kids, so maybe you shouldn't post those up either, oh and the pictures with your friends? Like Chale and Sole? You should bring those down too. I wouldn't want anyone to think all those photos of you are your attempt at your very own 15 minutes of fame!!!

My Facebook profile is only to keep in touch with my friends. Only the people on my friends list can see my profile and some that are on my list can only see a very limited profile (those are my co-workers and boss) Besides that, i don't post anything personal on my FB profile.

But i know what you mean. A co-worker of mine was telling me yesterday about a drama that unfolded which was the cause of Facebook. A friend of hers had a profile on FB. Her Ex found out and started snooping around her profile etc.. which led to some big issues and has made her custody battle more of a mess.

Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't like to pry in other's life but I'm a big lazy bum when it comes to that. If info comes my way...

if it doesn't, the person would have to have been mighty important in my life for me to make an effort and "investigate". And, because spreading the gossip also requires some effort, it's gotta be "good stuff" for me to pass it on.
