I agree. You just pop in the rice and water and a tiny bit of salt into that badboy and a few minutes later.... voila! perfect rice.
@ Buffy: You can even add in some frozen vegetables in there while youre cooking and it tastes really good. I've tried to put in taht powder that makes the rice come out reddish/brownish ( i forget the name), and that tastes alright... not the best, but its alright.

LOL LOL I WANT A RICE COOKER BUT I DONT MAKE THAT MUCH RICE SO ILL STICK TO MY POT AND WATER !!! LOL LOL You can get small rice cookers and only cook what you are going to eat that meal. Rice cookers are da bomb!I have never in my life heard of a rice dispenser or knew that such a thing existed. And I'm not joking. I keep my rice in the bag it comes in. And I'm sure 99% of you or your parents do too ('cept, of course, for MiMi).
Question: Since I'm a new rice cooker owner, how do you get it to be perfect, as in chinese restaurant perfect? We haven't found the right amount of water so that it's not too musy or too crunchy. I've tried boiling it with butter or oil, and it's almost there, but not quite. I'm eagerly awaiting for your answer, oh rice meister. Or any of you who know the answer
I don't know what the big deal is, there is no secret to it. Maybe you're putting too much water, that will make it mushy. And do what Dogo said, stir it a bit.
Oh, also let it sit a bit after the timer goes off, that will dry it up a bit. Maybe about 20 minutes or so.

I guess because we've always had a rice cooker and everyone I've known growing up had a rice cooker, i take rice making for granted. Now once you have a rice dispenser, you're hardcore!

I've been buying whole wheat and 12 grain and oat and all those weird healthy breads for a long time now, and just last week I bought some white wander (ccLB) bread... we all loved it at home as though we never had it. So this week I bought that wander (LCBO) plus kind, and it's not bad... same taste, but good for you. Or so the ads say.
@ Guada... OH THANK JEBUS!! SO I'm not the only person that doesn't know how to cook brown rice.. or maybe we do and that's what its supposed to look like and taste like Either way.. I'll stick to my white rice for now... until I learn how to make proper brown rice.... does cooking white rice and drenching it in Soya Sauce count as brown rice
ANYHOO... @ McSmartBread... WHOLE WHEAT BABY! Altho, I do buy the Wonderbread Premium Plus or whatever its called for my kids. They SOMETIMES will stomach the whole wheat but these "smart breads" are good alternatives
Whole weat all the way. But yesterday i tried brown rice...i'm not sure if i did it wrong, but is it supposed to be so mushy? i don't think i like it much.
