Unjustified sexual scenes? I object!  Of course we all wanted to see  Leonidas naked!  Or did you mean Xerxe's people? I still disagree. So this is what sense I made of it after consulting my history book... Yes, I know, but silence! It's interesting. So the Spartans were basically a military people. They started their military training at the age of 12 and it never ceased. The older men were expected to be models of endurance, FRUGALITY, and sturdiness to the younger men. In battle Spartans were supposed to stand and die rather than retreat. All Spartan men were expected to train vigorously and disdain luxury and wealth, do with little and like it. Women were prohibited from wearing jewelry or ornate clothes.  In short, Sparta was not a place for weaklings. So yes, I think that was the point of your "unjustified sex scenes" - to contrast the excess of the Persians and the frugality of the Spartans. The constant theme throught the entire movie, actually.

To those of you who found this flick a little too gory and violent... what were you expecting from a movie based on a battle? Well, it was actually based on a comic that was based on a battle.

So I found the movie way entertaining. Visually, it is very stunning. Looooooooved the slow-mo shots, especially the oracle one which was quite beautiful. I can't say I was disappointed at all, I went to see an action movie and action is what I got. Between the lines meaning: I wasn't expecting intelligent dialogues, McOsiris

The intro did a fine job of depicting the Spartan way of life. Spartan citizens were supposed to devote their time exclusively to military training. I guess I liked the historical aspect of it, which I'm sure has its inaccuracies, but I've got my history book to refer to... it was the battle of Thermopylae, btw, in case anyone is interested.

@ X - ur too much. Well thats just as much as u & Xtasis enjoyed the women, lesbo scene.

Movie: well if u like that kinda of movie, it's alright, boring for me, but I'm sure many would enjoy it. I also agree with Chale it's defenilty a IMAX movie, if not u probably wouldn't appreciate the scenes as much.

Bah, those men are hot, that's all that matters. I could have watched it in mute and i'd get the same tingle.

that's what I mean!!! too many close-ups of muscles and pretty faces, useless cutaways that didn't go with the actual dialoge...

And that is bad for the female audience because...

The girls were very hot too, but the nudity was totally unjustified for this script...

I saw it, and it was good, but not WOW, well maybe the scenery and battle scenes were wow, i love the way  the colors were. Other than that, it was no Gladiator or Braveheart. There was just something missing about it.

Would it be a DVD collectible? yes.
Oh there's a sequel coming up for it too.

I saw it on Sat and felt the same way u do, not even close to Gladiator or Braveheart.

@TVBuff have u seen Saving Private Ryan? about the same when it comes to gore.

I thought it was pretty wicked actually.  I loved the special effects, the passion and determination... makes me wish I was a Spartan... mmm actually no it doesnt.

Anyways, it was a really good movie, I definately recommend watching it in IMAX though... sooooooo wicked.

Is it bloody? Yes
Is it gory? mmmm yah
Should you brings your youngins to go see this movie? HELLZ NO!
It is worth seeing at the movies? Yes
Should you see it in IMAX? DEFINATELY
Should you eat a pretzle while watching the movie? Yes, but make sure you eat it before everyone starts getting their heads chopped off and they start making a wall out of dead people

So there you have it folks... go see the movie... its greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat

Is it true that it's very gory and bloody? I've seen previews and it looks awesome, but I'm not sure about the blood and gore. I loved Bravehard and Gladiator, and I didn't mind Saw and Hostel, but there's a limit to what I can watch. Is it worth watching?

Bloddy and gory yes, but not the type of bloody and gory as Hostel or Saw. Osea, they manipulate the colors so that it looks a different red than blood red. Comprende?
Anyway, now that you mention the gory, there were some real stupid parents who though it was a great idea to bring their children there, and i mean 5-7 year olds. This is an 18A Movie!!! it really peeved me off. Every time i saw a head being decapitated all i could think of was the child.

ESTUPIDOS!!!
