Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of living cells, tissues or organs from one species to another such as from pigs to humans.

Because there is a worldwide shortage of organs for clinical transplantation about 60% of patients needing new organs die on the waiting list. To address this shortage, scientists and biotechnology companies are developing an alternative source of organs: animals. Primates such as baboons or chimpanzees are poor candidates as organ donors not only because they are an endangered species but because they harbor viruses (such as HIV) that may cause disease in humans. Most attention is focused on using a strain of mini-pigs developed over 30 years ago as organ donors. These pigs have major organs that are about the size of those of adult humans and have a similar physiology.

While researching this topic, I found out that pig skin is actually used (transplanted) to treat burn victims because the pig's skin is similar to human skin. Anyway, there's a lot more on the subject but I thought I'd spare yuz the reading but my question to you is...

WOULD YOU ACCEPT AN ORGAN FROM AN ANIMAL?
