Just came back from lunch.
My ham sandwich and bottle of water tasted nothing like Ceviche

Yes Genie's ceviche was very, very good, we both tried it at the potluck. Well done.

Ecaudor ROCKS for ceviche, it's one of our main dishes en la Costa (Guayaquil) any hot, tropical place in Ecaudor will carry ceviche y many other seafood plates.

If you don't like seafood I can see the . It's good thou, try it sometime.

@ Genie: well it all depends in how you prepare it, cause Ecuadorian ceviche can be made with lemon juice as you say, but also with lemon juice & some tomate juice, that's wat gives it the color reddish.

So X your right @ the juice. Most places in Ecaudor will prepare it with lemon & tomate juice, that's the BEST one.

My mom does it soo good.

Now I think every spanish speaking country has it's own version of a ceviche & they all very well can taste good, but the Ecuadorian one ROCKS, sorry but there is no other ceviche that can top ours.

Now el Cocktail de camarones or de mariscos is totally diffrent then a ceviche, especially in Ecaudor.

@Joker: yes it can be done & we do use other mariscos. In Ecaudor we also use cangerejo, conchas, etc.

Listen here missy!! I made pupusas for y'll back in November 2005. Which is one year 3 months ago!! I clearly remember some people hiding a few to take home. Besides, i told a certain foro member, that when she has a gathering i may make a few.

In the meantime you can go to La Ppupusa Loca!!!

You can add tomato juice to Ceviche

My mom adds 1 can of V8 and a few lemons. You should try it with V8. That's the one that comes out red. I have also tried the white Ceviche which is usually all lime/lemon and it tastes good too.

Does anyone eat it with bread, rice or mais tostado?

Question: what's the difference between them? 'cause I make a mean one, but I think what I make is more a cocktail than actual ceviche.
