Speaking of, I just watched Brokeback Mountain. Such a good movie, very romantic. Sort of Tristan and Isolde, but with two guys and the bad King was the whole state of Texas.

I wonder what the loophole is

I mean, don't you have to be a "non for profit organization" to be allowed to even HAVE a lottery? and theeeeen have a permit issued to even have one? I'm sure the lottery commision is pretty tight about these things (it's good bussiness)

I wonder if the "skill testing question" IS the loophole to such "lotteries". Just like McDonald's Monopoly, kind of thing

You just like saying loophole, don't you?
BTW, I have no idea what your point was.

My point was that's it doesn't even sound legal, unless they found a loophole to do it

I was reading this article on Maclean's Magazine last night about this company, based out of Ottawa. They "sell", for 100 bucks a pop, a lottery and the winner gets not a visa, but the right to get their paperwork filed to see if he/she can immigrate to Canada-- no guarantees. However, just the mention of the word "lottery" is quite misleading, 'cause I'm sure people overseas think that for a hundred bucks they can come to Canada. Not only that, but out of hundreds of people who buy these tickets, only one wins, and all the money goes to this company.

This is a huge scam, if there was ever one.

What do you guys think?

Well it is misleading in the way it is promoted by the website name,.. but if u read the content,.. u can tell it is a scam,. .. the thing is that being a non for profit organization ,. how come the goverment of Canada hasn't done anything about it,. the comapanies registered as non for profit are somehow more regulated,.

Eggsactly. And what this company does is make it look as though we do, when in fact, there's no such thing. People buy the tickets for the so-cald (cc X@vier) lottery, and what they "win" is getting somebody to fill out the paperwork for them, which will most likely be denied anyway and which they can do for free from anywhere in the world. It's a scam, I tells ya!
I wouldn't be surprised that it was Angelita's idea....

why hasn't the government of Canada tried to shut this down?  Isn't this the responsibility of the government to ensure the country isn't misrepresented in this manner?
