I think I heard something like this on the Discovery....something related to a component of the cell phones found in Gorillas bones...
too tired to read the whole thing... but eventually I will...
En mi pueblo se le dice flojera, flojote!
Pero qué? No! De qué hablas? Diría Bainaman: qué bones?! No, this is about a component in cellphones made from a mineral called Coltan which is mined in Central Africa. It is mined in mountain gorilla habitat. Not only does the mining destroy the land, the miners are also killing the animals for what they call "bush meat" which they sell or eat themselves.
A simple way to help is to take your old cellphone to the Toronto Zoo to be recycled instead of throwing it away. That is all.

Probably not the kind of place to post something like this but here goes:
"You would never assume that your cell phone could be connected to gorillas in the Congo, but a shocking new report says cell phones could be partly to blame for the deaths of hundreds of gorillas. If you love animals, and can't get enough of the gorillas at the zoo, this is information you need to know. Our cell phone boom is turning into a gorilla bust."
If anyone is interested in reading more (I know, I know ) just google eco-cell or click here and/or here.
