I travel a lot and THERE IS TWO IMPORTANT THINGS HERE 1. If you are in the resort area or popular tourist night clubs etc the government of that country should recognize that and have extra local police and military presence so that criminals don't pray on the tourist. 2. The areas that they are getting attacked are in tourist safe areas. That means you cant watch your back or do anything different to stop them from attacking you. IF THEY WANT TO ROB AND KILL YOU THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. I have been robbed by police, i have seen people get robbed by locals but this is in the local areas at night where NO TOURIST GO. So i watch my back and do whatever is necessary not to get in trouble. SAFE AREAS SHOULD BE SAFE IF NOT DON'T GO THERE AT ALL..I HAVE BEEN TO MEXICO LONG TIME AGO AND FELT SUPER SAFE....I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING, WE NEED TO SEND A MESSAGE.. THE ONLY WAY CANADIANS CAN!! JUST STOP GOING THERE AND HURT THE TREASURY DEPT so that this will never happen again!
OK THERE talk about gringolatino!! Sorry eddie i dont agree!
I love going to any latin american country but we all know that there ALL YES ALL CORRUPT FROM THE COPS TO THE FAWKEN GOVENMENT! and Tourist areas or not when you travel its a luxury right so then you should always investigate where your going and what your doing! and like we all know this story is so shady its cold! so please!!

The family of Adam DePrisco, killed leaving a nightclub while on vacation in Mexico, says Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay is not doing enough to help them.
CTV.ca News Staff
Sandro Bellio and Tony DePrisco speak with Canada AM on Monday.
"I haven't heard a word from Peter, nor at this time do I wish to hear from him," DePrisco's uncle, Sandro Bellio, told Canada AM on Monday. "You've got nine days after the fact and no investigation on the Mexico side."
"Peter MacKay's talking out that he's contacted me or the family and he's going to have a meeting with the Mexicans... what for? There's no investigation. There's no paperwork. There's nothing."
In an interview with CTV's Question Period on Sunday, MacKay said he will be speaking with his Mexican counterpart on Monday about the case. "We'll continue to be in contact with the family and provide whatever assistance we can," he said.
Officially, Mexican authorities say DePrisco was killed after being struck in a hit-and-run.
However, family members believe the Mexican authorities have covered up what really happened. They think DePrisco died after locals beat him outside a popular Acapulco nightclub on Jan. 7. The bar, the Paladium, works on an "all-you-can-drink" basis for a flat fee.
The club is adjacent to a busy boulevard.
On Sunday, the teen's mother said her son's killing leaves her with contempt for her country and her government.
"I hate being a Canadian because I haven't seen nobody, nobody from the government doing anything at all," Carmen DePrisco told reporters. "They don't care."
Relatives were initially unwilling to share information about the report from the Ontario coroner's exam, but spoke with the media from their Woodbridge, Ont. home.
The family said the autopsy conducted Saturday in Toronto indicates a vehicle hit DePrisco's body, as Mexican police have claimed. However, they say the results don't add up and they will continue to look for answers.
"I don't dispute his findings whatsoever," said Bellio. "But what we really need to know is, when I left Adamo's body, there were no secondary injuries whatsoever to his body -- only trauma to the head."
Stephanie Pannuzzi, the dead teen's aunt, says she spoke to a neurologist in Mexico who examined the body.
"He confirmed to me that Adam was not hit by a vehicle," she told reporters. "I asked him, 'What do you think caused my nephew's death?' and he described something of steel, metal or rock is what killed my nephew -- it was not a hit-and-run accident."
Mexican autopsy
While Bellio said he didn't see secondary injuries, a Mexican autopsy report obtained by CTV News does show other injuries to Adam's body were documented in Acapulco. The areas injured include DePrisco's arm, knee and abdomen.
But a forensic expert there told CTV News he is sharply critical of the Mexican autopsy report.
"There are a lot of mistakes," said Dr. Alejandro Escobar, a former coroner in Acapulco. He said the Mexican autopsy is unprofessional and doesn't provide enough detail to prove anything.
"The big mistake here was that they didn't describe deeply all the injuries on the surface of the body," he said.
For example, the report mentions a knee fracture but does not identify which bone, and the document describes hemorrhages but doesn't say how large or deep they were, said CTV's Tom Walters.
"His initial reviewing of the report left him feeling that there just wasn't the pattern of evidence he would expect to see in a car accident, but he says there's no evidence to support another conclusion either."
Authorities should release DePrisco's body to his family early next week. Relatives plan to have an open casket and a public funeral.
His death comes nearly a year after the murders of Dominic and Nancy Ianiero in Cancun. The couple was also from Woodbridge, just north of Toronto. The Ianiero case remains unsolved.
Since 1994, 28 Canadians have been killed in Mexico. About half those deaths have occurred in the past five years.

Yes he was hit by a car.... because the Kid was drunk/high running in the street in midle of the night...in fact 2 days later they put speed bumps outside of Paladium...
Now...The Kid was not picking up a girl.....he was Actually with some local gays in the club and in his Hotel room, and drugs were found in the room. That explains why stuff was missing.
If The autopsy proves he was hit by a car. Don't you find odd that the family doesn't releasy the Autopsy results ??? why?
a) The autopsy found something embarrassing. b) The autopsy found something illegal....
I've been trying to see both sides of the story and this has shed a new light on matters.

Now this would be really embarrassing for the family to admit to. I just read the paper this morning and NOWHERE is this mentioned. In fact, the family are in DEEP denial. The autopsy shows that yes, he was hit by a car, but they don't even want to admit to this.

I think tourist often don't realize they are in another country. Sometimes they get too drunk, and that's ok if you are in Canada ( I've seen really drunk men traveling alone by subway or bus); but in other places people have to be aware of their behaviour and other people's behaviour aswell. For example, saying an insult in Toronto may be replied with another insult, but in other countries people insult others when they actually want to figth, and figths many times lead to death.
Canadians often insult among themselves and they don't take it seriously. In other places an insult is enough reason to bit up somebody.
I don't know what happened it that case; but I think it could be a set up to steal something from the guy. I saw this european movie in which a chick invited a guy she met at a bar and two men were waiting for her to bit the hell out of him and steal his money.
So ..don't drink too ,never loose mental alertness.
Very wise words.
Apparently I heard on the news that his hotel room was robbed while he was in the hospital.

PERSONALLY.....there are at least 10 other places I want to visit and vacation at before Cancun & Acapulco.....just for personal appeal and curiosity.....
Yes! las cucarachas are the size of a chancleta!!! lol
I never quite understood northamericans' aversion to cucarachas. Back home, they're our dearest pets, especially the big ones the size of birds who can actually fly.

You're right.....you made some good points and I have to agree.....
And yes people are warned to be careful everywhere just from MY experience it's always been a warning about being careful in Mexico due to THEFTS......not murder and all that......
And when people ask Agents how safe is it and all that.....Mexico is the one place they tell you to be extra careful when compared to DR or Cuba.....not all agents but some.....

1. I wanderwhy if you party with locals in Cuba or Dominican nothing happens.....
(Personally).....There are 2 reasons why Mexico has never appealed to me for vacationing purposes......#1. giant cucarrachas in the rooms LOL.... #2. robberies...... Each time any of my friends have gone to Mexico, the travel agent and other people warn them to be careful...etc...etc...and really, who wants to vacation somewhere where you don't feel safe? (regardless of the beautiful beaches, great service and all that).....Cuba might not have the greatest resort food, but at least one feels safer walking around the island....
Regarding travel agents telling you to be careful etc etc........ From a North American perspective, I don't think any agent here would not make the same suggestion if you are going ANYWHERE south of the USA... maybe except Cuba (although of all my vacations, the ONLY one where I almost found myself in a fight between locals was actually Cuba... but I don't think that says anything) And I think the same could be said for any major city, including Euro and Asian major cities
I've been three times to Mexico, and I felt very very safe everytime... and it IS, overall, safe
I really don't think that a thing like this reflects how safe or unsafe it is for tourists, and I doubt tourists are, in fact, a "target" These things happen. I think he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and bumped into the wrong people It wouldn't really stop me from going to Mexico

2. Like Mark mentioned, dancing with another man's girl causes problems internationally....
3. Maybe they were both drunk (adam and the local) and things got out of hand....
4. Maybe Adam didn't know this girl had a man....and suddenly paid the consequences AND if this girl had a man what was she doing dancing with another guy......hmmmmm
5. Accidents and crimes and robberies and all that happen EVERYWHERE in the world....
6. first in Acapulco it was a murder, now it was a hit & run.....but funny enough, both cases are Italians from Woodbridge.....I know both cases are not related but it's just funny that's all..
7. A large amount of Italians in general from Toronto party in Mexico and vacation there.....and I really think this will be bad for the Mexican Tourism (travelers from Toronto)....all these crimes will make Torontonians vacation elsewhere......

Family wants answers in son's Mexico death document.write('Email story'); Email story RICK EGLINTON / TORONTO STAR Adam DePrisco’s mother, Carm, grieves while Adam’s brother Tony, 24, gets comforted by his cousin Luisa Pannozzi at their home in Woodbridge. Friend claims Woodbridge man, 19, was beaten outside Acapulco nightclub but police say he was hit-and-run victim January 10, 2007
Tracy Huffman Crime Reporter
Adam DePrisco had worked for months to save enough money to go to Acapulco with a long-time friend – his first vacation without family.
But just three days after landing in Mexico for the two-week stay, the 19-year-old Woodbridge man was killed.
Now his family is demanding to know what happened.
Mexican authorities say he was struck by a car after leaving a nightclub on a busy road but the family believes he was beaten after dancing with a local man's girlfriend. The one thing both parties agree on is that DePrisco – who worked by day as a painter with his uncle and by night clearing tables at a Woodbridge restaurant – was killed by someone who has not been apprehended.
Overwhelmed with grief, DePrisco's mother Carm and father Benny, have been staying with relatives, unable to return to a home filled with pictures and memories of their son. With the help of a large and close family, they have made dozens of phone calls to Mexican and Canadian authorities, but still don't believe their son's death is getting the attention it deserves.
"I want these guys found," said DePrisco's older brother Tony at his uncle's home yesterday. "It seems like everybody is trying to cover up what happened."
"We have theories but no facts," said DePrisco's uncle, Claudio Pannozzi.
"There's no clear indication as to what happened and it seems like no one wants to help us find answers" said DePrisco's aunt, Lucy Defilippis-Pannozzi.
Mexican police told the Star yesterday they are investigating what they believe was a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning. DePrisco died in a Mexican hospital at 9:15 p.m. Monday. An aunt and uncle made it to his bedside before he died and have been dealing with Mexican police and hospital officials.
Initially the family believed he was hit by a car, but now believe he was beaten, especially after speaking to DePrisco's travelling companion Marco Calabro and the relatives who flew to Mexico hours after hearing he was in hospital.
"I want someone to find who did this to my son," said Carm DePrisco, sobbing uncontrollably. "I want someone to take charge. I lost my son, I'm not going to let this go without being fought."
Carm DePrisco has been weeping since she received a phone call from her son's friend around 5 a.m. Sunday.
According to family, Adam DePrisco went to a nightclub with his friend on Saturday night. He was dancing with a local woman when a man, possibly her boyfriend, became upset.
A bouncer threw DePrisco from the bar, the family believes. When Calabro went looking for him, he found his friend on the ground outside the club, bleeding from his head, said Tony DePrisco.
Police in Acapulco said DePrisco's injuries were typical for someone struck by a car. But the family believes he would have suffered more than head injuries if hit by a car.
The investigation is continuing, said Victor Hernández, a spokesperson for Acapulco police.
DePrisco was a good man who never had run-ins with the law and loved to make others happy, his family said. After graduating from high school he decided to take a year off, save some money and take a two-week vacation to Mexico. He wanted to become a tool and die maker and planned to begin an apprenticeship later this year.
"He worked hard and never depended on anyone," said brother Tony. "He had a big heart."
Through their frustration and hunt for answers, the DePriscos said they want Canadians to be safe, perhaps even through a travel ban to Mexico.
"We don't want people coming home from Mexico like Adam," said Pannozzi.
Calls to the Mexican Embassy in Ottawa were not returned.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said a travel advisory is in place that urges travellers to exercise "caution and prudence" travelling in Mexico.
The department is aware of DePrisco's death but there are no plans to request that Canadians not travel to Mexico, said Rejean Beaulieu, a spokesperson for the department.
"We are helping the family. We've been in touch with them to see what kind of assistance they are looking for," he said.
But the family said they still don't have answers.
DePrisco's body is expected to arrive in Canada today or tomorrow. Funeral arrangements have not been confirmed.
RIP Adam.......I knew this kid....He used to work at the Greek restaurant at woodbride....
Isn't Mexico City one of the-- if not THE-- most dangerous city to live in? My sister lived there for a few months years ago and even back then it had a really, really bad re****tion. Apparently there are an incredible number of thieves there. I guess the same goes for Acapulco.
I never felt unsafe in the city but maybe it's because I was a foot and a half taller than the average person.
Mind you, I didn't really go out of the downtown core to explore.
When I was little, I used to think every Asian person was Bruce Lee.
Maybe that was their mentality too.

wow i didn't know Acapulco was that bad.....we had no problem in Cancun

o yeahhh Let me tell ya why..... Acapulco is 4 hrs drive from the most unsecure city in Mexico (Mexico City), and guess where the Mexico City People (aka chilangos) go for weekends, party, ......Acapulco.
Not all chilangos go to Acapulco. There are very nice exclusive places inAcapulco but...I won't pay for going there
Acapulco belongs to Guerrero which is one of the poorest states in Mexico with a High rate of unemployment which normally leads to crime.
now it all comes together......thats why all the tourist go to Cancun and has taken the #1 spot away from Acapulco.
Thnx for the info and i havent heard tha work chilango in a long time I used to live in Dallas so i know some mexicasa words
