Police: During fight at nightclub, suspect accidentally shot self and pal
A Toronto man who police believe accidentally shot himself and his pal when he pulled a handgun out of his pants at a downtown nightclub early Tuesday faces four criminal charges.
Jory Omar Grant, 24, who faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault and obstructing police, was denied bail yesterday and will next appear at College Park court for a video remand Wednesday.
Grant and another man suffered serious wounds after shots were fired inside and outside the Kool Haus nightclub at 3:30 a.m.
Toronto Police said the gunfire erupted shortly after two women started a fight at a reggae party at Kool Haus, an offshot of the larger Guvernment nightclub, located at Queen's Quay E. and Lower Jarvis St.
Club bouncers initially separated the women, but trouble erupted again and a dozen or so people began fighting.
