I'm a black belt in Tae Wok Do as you spelt it!!!

Mind you, I got my black belt when I was 16 so I can't do $hit now but as long as I can still beat El Pibe's a$$ , I am one happy cookie!!!

What do you mean do something with some sort of something behind it???

I don't remember my story about the evil bird but perhaps that's best.  I don't want to talk about my rollerblading experience anymore.

hmm... interesting.. maybe its a new development in the PT world.  I've had PTs and they've always told me weights first, cardio later.  They have, however, told me to warm up before weights... so a 5 min jog on the treadmill for example.  OH and we've also done interval training... where between sets you go and do a minute of cardio and then come back and do anther set of weights.

Lemme see if I can find a recent article on this... brb

I've also heard to do cardio first then weights. I prefer cardio first because it gets the blood pumping through the system which benefits the weight program. The only downside I can think of for doing cardio first is that you can over tire yourself to do weights.

I'll try switching it up just the same.

I love Taekwondo....this is something I regret not having time for.....any martial arts are amazing work outs....especially for people who hate the draaaaagggging feeling of treadmills and weight lifting.....

There are some great ideas here that you could listen too.  Build lean muscle mass, reduce your alcohol intake, exercise more.  All great ideas, and accurate pieces of information.  I would suggest the same.  A quicker method of reducing body fat percentage is by combining weight training, with cardiovascular training.  What I would recommend you do, is not take that reading as 100% accurate, I would however take as a good warning sign that something needs to change in your lifestyle.  Here are some tips:

1.  Take up weight training, 30 min, followed by 15 - 20 min of cardio training, 3 - 4 times a week

2.  Decrease your caloric intake

3.  Decrease your alcohol intake (I know its hard, but try)

4.  Drink more water, it helps speed up the metabolism, gives you a full feeling reducing the risk of those "inappropriate" snacks.

5.  Reduce carbohydrate intake; carbs are your primary source of energy, but they stay in your system too long, they do turn into fat.

With that being said, this is why I suggest you do your weight training first, then cardio.  While you are weight lifting your are expending your first source of energy (carbs), by the time you get to the cardio, those stores they will be depleted, and you will then begin to attack your seconday source of energy (fat).  This will help you in decreasing your body fat percentage, in a quicker and healthier way.  If you do lipo, just remember that as quickly as it comes off, it can come back on.

If you have any further questions PM me.  I hope this helps.

Maybe we should do a foro thing work out regime group. Instead of joining a boring gym full of smelly people, we could all grab our bikes or roller blades (providing that the weather stays the same as now) we could all motivate eachother to be more active. That's all i'd need. I want to do it, but not by myself. I need a workout buddy.

You (and I mean most people) definitely need to exercise to burn the fat. Lots of cardio. Building muscle is also important (as per Luna) but knowing you for a while now, I think you just need to start a cardio program like running or cycling and you'll be fine.

btw, machines suck. you need to hit the pavement for a real burn.

oh and b4 I forget, yes the scales are inaccurate and should be used as a guide blah blah blah, what you should try is measuring yourself at the same time of day for a week then take the average of all three measurements to give an overall view of your system. The best time to measure yourself is before dinner when your food and liquid levels are more stable.

Oh and if you're a freak like me, get your blood pressure checked regularly. You'll see a difference after working out regularly

I got this nifty little scale, as a gift, that besides, obviously, reading your weight, will also read the water % content in your body, and also the FAT % content

I'm probably slightly overweight. Maybe around 10pds, but the body fat content reading that I get from this thing is WAY up there (I hope it's malfunctioning)

So what is a good way to loose fat content? nevermind the weight, I think I can handle that, but how about getting rid of JUST FAT (besides lipo)!? anybody?

Those scales are NEVER accurate and should be used only as a guide.  I believe the scales read better when the person has more water in their system but don't quote me on that.

In order to burn fat you have to build lean muscle mass in order to boost your metabolism which in turn helps burn stored body fat.  Eat leaner protein, stay away from too much junk food and high in fat foods (ie processed foods, fast food, etc), stay active and be healthly.  In short, start working out, baby!

I hate that I know this stuff but do nothing to follow it!

I realize that, but even taking the error margin into consideration, it's still high

I have a similar scale (maybe the same). Does your scale have an athlete mode? People who are physically active on a regular basis will show abnormally high body fat %'s on a scale that only measures 'regular' people's BF. You might need to change your settings.

To answer your question, you have to change your diet and burn more calories than you intake. Cutting down on your booze helps dramatically.

it's on "normal"

I figured I had to change my diet but to what, mainly?
Yeah, not sure I can do the booze thing
