Hi Neruda, I found this Skype phones for 10 bucks in www.factorydirect.ca , they have a store located near Spadina / College.
I'm using a Pentium 3, 256 mb ram, 933 mhz processor and a rogers cable connection.
It works fine when I call to a landline number in Chile. But it works even better when I call to another Skype user.
Good luck.

I don't see any problems with it, but for your mom's convenience, I'd suggest she gets a Skype phone, so she doesn't have to deal with the ackwadness of talking on the computer (if it bothers her).

I know my friend Gaston here uses Skype to talk to his family in Chile, and he speaks nothing but good things about it.

Good luck!

I'm thinking of setting up skype on my mom's computer so she can talk to her family and friends in chile for free. Does any one have any experience with skype?

Is it difficult to set up?

My mom's comupter is not the greatest (she has a PIII chip) but she does have roger's cable as her provider. Can skype operate on such a system?
