Danny was brave to point out the obvious. And I, personally did speak my mind on him professionally. However, I don't believe I wished him an early death.
LadyBug, Danny
One's person hypocrisy is another's attempt to be civil, and respectful, and thus retain some self-dignity. I accept these people's words at face value and appreciate it and would not want to take this away from them. Keep yours and accept theirs. The moment calls it.
My mother told me yesterday morning about his death; her eyes were sad and red. She told me she had actually prayed for him and hoped he would recover. I didn't like his style; but I was aware he voluntered in many events of the community and that made him a person others could relate to.
My mother also told me about a weekly news paper article ,in which he wrote sometimes, the paper said something about four cubans mad at Cuevas for being part of a paper which they consider communist. The paper simply stated that they were communist, they just write whatever they think is rigth.
I hope that doesn't have anything to do with his death; but if it did, it would simply be a shame.
What a shame!
WHY WOULD IT.........HE DIED FROM THE HEART ATTACK....NADA QUE VER WITH THE ARTICLE.....
THAT WOULD BE A SAD RUMOUR TO SPREAD.
Only people like those CSI guys would know for sure. Worries are bad for the heart. As I said..I hope that has nothing to do with that, well, everyone who read that paper can get to their own conclusions.
Anyways, let's the guy rest in peace.
What-the-hell????
Buddy!!! Stop watching TV!!!! Do yourself a favour and just stop!!!
HAhAha! I've been watching CSI lately, it's true. I've done lab jobs using instruments to find out chemical components in samples. Unfortunately, life can be more weird than any tv show, that's what I think.
BUT IF I RECALL ALOT OF YOU ****S....(WITHOUT MENTIONING SPECIFIC NAMES) WERE THE SAME ONES WHO SAID THE GUY WAS THIS THAT ANNOYING A DISGRACE TO THE LATIN COMMUNITY ..MAKING US LOOKK BAD ETC...
DOTN MAKE ME BRING UP PAST THREADS...
AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU FEEL SORRY NOW THAT HE PASSED AWAY...
DAMM QUE HIPOCRESIA.....
Danny...Danny....I would call you a S@#@$%& Disturber./......but.a...no lo voy a hacer....just deja de meter problemas a gente del foro Nanito...aprende a portarte bien...

Regardless, on a professional or personal level.....my "hypocracy" comment went towards people that didn't support him while he was alive, people that didn't like him (professionally or personally), people that constantly made fun of him, and especially people that "all of a sudden" se acuerdan de el TO THE EXTREME.....y ahora quieren "contribuir" a la amistad y el cariño que supuestamente le tenian tooooooooodos estos años con palabras vacias, sin sentimiento ni sinceridad.......
I can't deny his popularity or that he was a pioneer in the Latin Entertainment Industry in TORONTO......and many people who knew him personally really liked and respected him.....and like anyone in this "industry" he had haters and lovers of his work......I don't have an issue with that AT ALL....
Lo que me molesta is that suddenly certain people have something "good" to say.....con carada de pasmados....trying to prove that his death is a big loss to THEM personally.....with all their bla bla bla.....palabras que sin acciones no significan N-A-D-A....people who hadn't spoken or kept in contact with him in AGES!!!
Feeling bad/sad for someone's death is human nature....a normal reaction of "pobrecito".....as a human with feelings, we all felt bad.....especially if death hits close to home.....pero que no me vengan con su TILIN TILIN....in other words....too much fake yapping, ahora que no sirve de nada....
Showing up to the funeral as a form of RESPECT for his achievements, professionalism or that he was a good human being...OK, FAIR ENOUGH.....pero que no hablen tanto...puras nadas!
K, got it, I think I'll assume you mean people somewhat closer to him or in that industry

yeah i thought id get a couple of nasty comments ...for saying the truth..
sorry to say but im not one big two face like alot of you..
it just despises me to see a bunch of phonies feeling sorry for someone that passed away ...while just about a few months ago..yall talked ****** about him....
so check yourselves first b4 you criticize me
Dude, I don’t know if you meant that about my post, but my reply to you, wasn’t "nasty" I just told you what I thought about your comment, without any "nastiness", I don’t think
LB, I’m not sure I understood what you were trying to say
If you mean the people that disliked him at a PERSONAL level and NOOOOW feel sorry or pretend to feel sorry, I can see your point about "hypocrisy"
But if you mean the people that disliked him at what he did as a PROFESSIONAL, I still think it’s pretty normal and genuine to feel bad for the guy, regardless if you liked or disliked how he did what he did. Otherwise, it would be like saying that you can’t feel bad that, for example, your mechanic passed away, just because, although he was a good person, he was simply a bad mechanic
As I mentioned, I also wasn’t a fan of his stuff, but I appreciate that many people were (as a PROFESSIONAL!) and I don’t think it would fall under hypocrisy that many feel bad about it, and I don’t think it would make those who also didn’t like what he did as a PROFESSIONAL, less sad for him passing away
And that’s also what I meant when I said to Danny que "una cosa no tiene nada que ver con la otra"

I understand Danny's point about HYPOCRATES.....especially at a Funeral or suddenly praising and "speaking well" of someone they have never liked or supported just because suddenly he passes away....that really PIZZES me off.....(ahora todo el mundo se cree el mejor amigo de Carlos Cuevas but where were you guys and what did you do for him or with him when he was VIVO???).......
YES Mr Carlos Cuevas was popular, a good MC....etc....and yes it was 50/50 thing with him (50 liked him, 50 didn't).......I feel bad mostly for his family, friends left here to moarn him......he didn't deserve to die young and like that.....it is a loss for the Latin community (for those that supported him)....
I can list 100000 cliches about this......pero de nada va a servir......
Now that he is gone, at least we can wish him to "rest in peace".....and I hope that the pain of losing a loved one lessens for his family and friends.....
This is one time that there's no need to jump on Danny....he makes sense....eventhough his way of saying things might come across as insensitive to some....it's the TRUTH!!

i don't really know who this carlos cuevas person is, i've only seen his name on the foro. but whatever complaints people had about the guy, i'm sure even the people who criticize him will agree that he didn't deserve to die that young.
say you were in a car accident and were in critical condition in the hospital.. those people on the foro that don't like you wouldn't say "oh good, that means he won't be posting for a while". they would wish for your recovery, regardless.

Una cosa no tiene nada que ver con la otra Many dislike YOU at what you do (in this context: what you post on foro), it doesn't mean they'd be HAPPY if you passed away
As far as CC goes, I didn't like him much at what he did, and I didn't know him personaly, so I can't comment on that But he is undeniably one of the most perseverant and renown personalities (if not the MOST renown) in the Toronto latin media community. I can appreciate that in a professional. And maybe many saw what I never could see in him as an entertainer
Nonetheless, really too bad for the loss

It is sad that he passed away so unexpectedly. There were many who disliked him but despite that, it was very evident that he worked hard and was very involved with the growing Latin community in Toronto.
My mother told me yesterday morning about his death; her eyes were sad and red. She told me she had actually prayed for him and hoped he would recover. I didn't like his style; but I was aware he voluntered in many events of the community and that made him a person others could relate to.

I feel really bad for his friends and family....it's a loss for them.....and of course his radio fans....I was fully counting on his recovery to maybe see a change in his personality.....this could have been a wake up call for him.......
When are people going to realize that how you behave with others when you're alive is what will make the difference on how people will remember you when you are gone.....According to comedian Andres Lopez, "en la vida solo hay que ser bueno, porque lo demas no cuenta"
May he rest in peace.....and I know they will have a HUGE "funeral" thing for him HERE in Toronto....I say huge, because amongst the Hypocrates, many other people will show up for this.....
This year the Latin community lost:
Gonzalo Gutierrez from AMENAZA, Elvis Rojas and now Carlos Cuevas......RIP a todos

Carlos Cuevas has been involved in SO MANY events and has been active in the media for many years here in Toronto. I remember being 7yrs old singing @ Nathan Phillips Square for the Independence festivities and he was always the MC there. I can say that guy has seen me grow up before his eyes. I'm truly sad. El siempre....siempre...SIEMPRE me apoyaba en todo.
Carlos Cuevas has MC'd almost every concert, festival and general latin events around our community since the early 80's. He's done everything from being Master of Ceremonies to having his own TV show on TLN (Entre Amigos - co-hosting with Beatriz Garzaro) and also broadcasted on the radio.
My most sincere condolences go to his family and all his friends...which were so many. Especially us in the entertainment scene. He was a huge fan of seeing one of us artists make it big to represent Toronto.
Que Dios lo recive en su gloria!
R.I.P Carlos Cuevas - tu sincero amigo,
Ricky Franco

Third World Entertainment Inc. would like to send condolances to Carlos Cuevas' family and close friends. He was a pioneer in the media and entertainment industry. May he rest in peace.
I met him once at a private party in Mississauga and he seemed genuine. My mom on the other hand has always been in touch with him and she really liked him. People have to remember that sometimes tv and radio personalities act since in a way they are on a "stage" performing.

Ok so from what both my godparents say is that On Sunday they were hosting a private award ceremony for him, since he was leaving Toronto to go live with his family in Miami, and when he was thanking everyone he told them he didnt feel well and that he felt like he was someone else. Then Monday he suffered three small strokes one right after the other, on Tuesday or wedenesday he suffered his heart attack and last night he was in a coma! Untill his body just gave out this morning. Its really sad he did many things in his life and was great to most ppl yes he was a diva in his own mind and went overboard but that was him and his personality! May he rest in peace!
That is really sad, sad news. I had the fortune of working with him for a while, and saw a side of him that few people saw: his quiet, non-diva, out-of-the-spotlight side. I really liked him, weirdness and all. May he rest in peace.
yeah i saw the nice non diva family side of him!!! he was a really good friend to my god parents and my mother knew him from way back when!!! it truly is sad!
