talking about ugly Betty,. do u guys think that now all the attention has turned to Salma instead of Betty???
Yes and that is the reason why it's majorly sucking now. She's such an attention whore.
BTW, yes, it's me, K, not MM. :P
ETA: I'm watching UB now and I have to say... what a crappy actress she is! And what about the continuity? She was in that novela within the novela. Boo boo boo!! She should have stuck to that - all those characters are supposed to be lousy actors, she would have been in her element.

Yeah!... and that they make that mashed palta crap
You lost me there, bud. You were doing so well, and then you went all argentinean on me. Besides, aren't you still banned? Let me go have a chat with Admin.
You know... mashed palta (SPANISH for avocado) = guacamole
Yes, still banned from work, I'm home though

So I watched this last night and it was cute. For those of you who watched the original Betty La Fea, which I did courtesy of my generous SIL who used to tape it for me until she stopped when there were like 10 episodes left (), I miss the funny characters, the actors of the original and the colombian humour. There's just no comparison. (I've even watched the mexican version, La fea mas bella, and I just DON'T LIKE IT. They're not funny.
I know, eh? Mexicans a just soooooo not funny/funner

Well I really liked it. I watched some episodes of Yo soy Betty, la fea in Mexico, only because it was on on Saturdays and my roomies and I didn't have cable. I thought it was ok. I can really see myself getting more into this one because I can relate to it better. I hope they change the time slot though.
I think the reason most of you dont like it is because you are thinking that they are gonna make it like BETTY LA FEA they are not its a different concept a different country and a differnt language!! Take it for what it is its a comedy based on an Ugly Latin girls job a at a popular AMERICAN MAGAZINE!!!!

Nope, that was las Juanas, Perro amor was just before Betty la Fea, and "Betty" was there in the opposite role the hot clueless and yet completely naive girl and Hugo Lombardi was "El Perro"....It was politically incorrect, very sarcastic and satiric...

Is Perro amor the one with Juana Valentina? I saw a couple of episodes (but SIL refused to tape that one for me... ) 'Cause if it is, it did look funny.
Let me know if you find out about the DVDs. Thanks!

Please do and let us know! I missed like half of the soap!!
^^^ I don't have satellite, so I can't watch colombian telenovelas... I'd love to, if I could, 'cause they're my favourite!!!
Question: If I wanted to buy Betty la Fea, where would I do this? Is it for sale in North America?

There's a place in st. clair that sells spanish soaps, I think confu works or knows this place.
Anyhow they had for sale Rubi for like $40.00 bucks or so. I'm sure they can probably get it for you if they dont have in stock.
I also want to get Betty la Fea & Rubi, love both of these soaps.
Given the choice, I'd get Betty & Las Juanas, my favourite soap operas ever (that doesn't include the brazilian soaps I used to watch back home, which are the bestestest of the best, IMHO)
Well last time I was thre they had Rubi, Juanas that i can remember of & of course other ones.

I watched the original Betty La Fea too. It was pretty funny, It was a big success in Colombia mainly because the characters were so spontaneous and realistic, and discrimination on looks it's a big reality there, plus most of people can't afford cable so they have maybe 4 or 5 channels.
I watched half of the episode last night, to tell you the true, my expectations were lower so it was ok (although this Betty doesn't seem to have the charisma of Ana M. Dominguez and the guy designer will be hardly as funny as Hugo Lombardi) but I'm gonna wait a few more episodes to give my veredict.
B.T.W. Right now there's another good Colombian Soap Opera called "Sin Tetas no hay Paraiso" and it supposed to be even better.

However... I thought it was well-adapted to the anglo world. I love it that Betty is so latina, and they show it like it is. I looooooooove how they included the little gay kid. I've never seen that on TV, actually. The only thing I'm not so sure about is that the "bad people" are very Spy Kiddish. It reminded me of the witch in 101 Dalmatians. I don't know if whiteys will get into it. I hope it continues.
What did you guys think?
