MellowManC wrote: Where can I find these indiginous names?? is there a website you can recomend, i googled "indigineous names" and got nada...
Try spelling it "indigenous" o nombres indígenas
I'm not gonna be cruel, Buffy. Try rhyming any of these names with something bad. (I haven't even tried it, maybe there is something bad to rhyme them with ) Anyway, who cares? Why should I care that people will have a hard time pronouncing them (the dad included )? It's better than naming the kid Apple, don't u think? Imagine...
I think that if I ever have kids I'm going to go with some indigenous names - either Náhuatl or Purépecha (I'm proud of my roots ).
Boy toy names:
- Tonatiuh (means "sun")
- Itzmin ("thunder" and it sounds better than Thor IMO)
- Cuitláhuac (I once had a mad crush on a guy named this ok, guess MM will be taking that one out of the list ) Errrrrr nevermind... I'll be taking that one off the list myself, tyvm. I just looked up the meaning and guess what? It means full of ****! LMAO OMG, it can't mean that! But apparently, it does. Well, the guy I knew did master the bs so I'm not surprised - fits like a glove if you ask me. Anyway... moving on.
Girly girl names:
- Citlalli (star) or Citlaltzin (little star)
- Yaretzi (will always be loved :gag:)
- Zyanya (eternal)
- Yunuén (half moon)
- Erandi (amanecer) how the F do you say amanecer in English? (dawn?)
- Eréndira (the smiling one. Was the name of a Purepecha princess plus it's the character of one of my fave stories by García Márquez)
D'oh! There are so many more of these names that I like but I'd have to have a truck load of kids and that is definitely not happening.
A lot of these names are common in Mexico though.
Oh, Lahtula, you're gonna be a cruel, cruel mother in so many ways. In your defense, my sister got her daughter's name from a Miskito book of names and it's just beautiful, and the meaning is even more beautiful. Nobody, though, NOBODY can ever pronounce it right. Estos gringuitos... As for me, I always thought I'd name my son Amaru...
