after the domain expires you're probably going to wait 6 months to a year before the domain becomes available for purchase. That's assuming the registrar doesn't keep it and tries to get some money out of it by auctioning it. The registrar can hold it for as long as they want under the pretense that the owner might change his mind
That's not good news... But thanks for the info, Dr. J.

There are so many options . If you plan to host a web site, I recommend that you choose one service provider to do both (register and host) because it will be less of a headache to tansfer domain names, etc.
I need your help, guys. The name of the page that I've been trying to get for ages is up for grabs right now... the people who owned it finally gave up on it and I want it! How do I go about getting it? It's a .ca thingy (sad, I don't even know the terminology) and I want it!!! What do I do?
God wrote: up for grabs ? what is exaclty the status of it ? even it is expired you can not buy it right away .....There is a period of time before the domain is uyp for grabs all depends of the status...
when I click on it it gives me a "the page cannot be displayed" message. I did some research and the contract expires on september 12. How much time does it take for it to be "up for grabs" after the contract expires, do you know? MiMi suggested I backorder it.
there's is a period of time before the domain goes "public", even if it's expired the actual owner is able to keep it, try snapnames.....is the best
do a who is and tell me what is the status of the domain ?

Thanks, Geek... I mean, Xavi!
Question: are there different sites that I can visit to register a domain? What's the difference? Price? Perks? Why should I choose one site over another? Is it $30 just to register or is it like a monthly fee?
I really know NOTHING about this. Help!!!
if u r going to just register the name it makes no diff on the site only if u r going to be hosting a site (i suggest u look around)

Register a domain name!!!
I don't know how to do that though... ask MM... QUICK!!!
Unless you mean the website is up for grabs as in "they're selling it".... in that case, buy it!... I DO know how to do THAT. With money
Yes, that's what I meant... how do I register a domain? They're not selling it. It's just completely disconnected. I contacted them before and they were like, "No way, we're not selling", but I guess they just gave it up.
MiMi, Xavier, log on soon, please!!!
Didn't I just say that I DON'T know how to do that?!
Actually, PM me the domain name, I'll register it for you
OH! and you should post "MiMi, Xavier, log on soon, please!!!" a little louder, so they can hear you
