Well, a word of advice, only borrow what you need!!! if they give you more than what you need, just pay it back right there, dont keep it, cause if u do the math a 4 year university term can cost you lots of $$, especially if you borrow $12000 per year = $$48000 once you finish, they only give you 6 months after u finish, and unless you aint got a job by then, you will have to start making payments, and trust me, it aint pretty....**** i am still makin payments after 12 years.......and dont go try hidin cause they willl always find you...

You apply to OASP through school. You fill out the form and ask for some information. Once they have that, they decided whether you are eligable and how much they will give you!
I applied at Ryerson University for Linguistics [Spanish Translation] but I was told by someone that Glendon College @ York U. offered the same course. Looking around the page, I came across this course. Something I've been interested in doing since I was in High School. In high school, I belonged to a Political group called SAI [Students Against Injustice]. We did alot of work with Political campaigns for our district and helped out alot of students with problems in school, be fights or low grades. I've always been the nice guy everyone dont like. So i think Politics is where its at for me.

I think if you send a really nice letter attached to your Bursuary application, they will believe it, therefor grant you the MONEY.<<<it worked for me.
miguel wrote: the good news being that when you apply for OSAP you don't have to pay fees (you can defer them) until the osap decision is made.
Very true however OSAP can be an arse in the sense once getting approved for your OSAP and already knowing how much you're going to get. You have a number of weeks to wait before its processed you're bank institute. If applying you really need to research everything to be on your feet and know what to do. Oh ya apply to all OSAP Bursuries. I've received over $3000 on them
How does it work? Have you applied? Did you apply to college/univ?
Like Gitana said you would go thru OCAS (colleges in Ontario), OUAC (Universities) and you would pay a fee for using OCAS/OUAC and you have the ability of maximum applying to 5 colleges or universities of your choice.
Then there's the waiting game lol..you wait approximately 1-2 months for OCAS/OUAC to recognize and distribute all colleges or universites you applied for. During that period OCAS/OUAC provides you a student number kinda like a SIN #.
Then at that point you continue to wait...at this point colleges/universities depending on where you want to study they'll reply to you. Saying congratulations your accepted. Once you receive a confirmation from the institute then you do you OSAP.
You can do your OSAP online to avoid a fee. As well you can also do it if your currently enrolled at a university/college/high school. And then you fill it out and OSAP will determine whether you're eligible to receive a loan and how much depending on your income, # of household currently on OSAP and how much you parents make.
How much is available? All depends on your situation, family income, household of children using OSAP
anyone still paying their student loan? Yup currently paying it and no regrets. Canada provides us the opportunity of having this and I luv Canada for it
How does it work? How much can money is available? anyone still paying their student loan?

YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE COLLEGE YOU APPLIED TO, THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH A FORM THAT YOU MUST FILL OUT WITH PERSONAL INFO.... (BANK ACCOUNT ETC...) ALONG WITH THIS APPLICATION YOU HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $85 FEE....YOU WILL THEN GET IT DEPOSITED INTO YOUR ACCOUNT... JUST DON'T GO CRAZY AND SPEND IT, OTHERWISE YOU WON'T HAVE MONEY TO PAY OFF YOUR SCHOOL OR BOOKS!
