Congrats Yesi!

We planned our wedding ("we"= my ex-wife) in three months
The planing wasn't hard. Making the family believe our son was a 5.5pds 4 month premature baby, WAS!

Anyway, I just think you might have a hard time having a 150 people wedding on an $8000 budget though, by the time you add the DJ, wedding cake, dress/es, etc etc.. it really adds up
We ended up spending about 16 Gs on ours, and it wasn't even THAT extravagant
You're gonna have to do a LOT of shopping around
Any half-ass hall in T.O would charge around $55 to 70 per, for your standard 4,5 course meal with an open bar
$36 sounds like a great deal! I assume halls are a bit cheaper in Cambridge
Good luck!

Really? Three months? We planned ours in four, and spent A LOT LESS than you did, but we only had about 50 people (only immediate family and friends). We broke a record, though, 'cause we really didn't spend that much without going really gettho (sp?). And we had a fun, fun wedding. Very laid back. I still remember it fondly.

It sounds like a good deal but something tells me to be careful.   How much are they charging for the location itself?   Where will you have the reception?    Also, are you having cash bar vs. open bar?     What food will they be serving for that proce?

Anyway, I have been trying to connect to toronto hispano all day, something is wrong with this website.  Anyway I finally did and want to ask a question.

I have about 150 people coming to the wedding, I went to a place yesterday and they charge about $5,500 only for food includes two bottles of wine per table.  Is this expensive or average?

Thanks everyone

@Jesi....Do you really need a big wedding...save that money and travel instead...enjoy you and your hubby....you can have a very nice honey moon with that money.

Congratulations, Yesi!!! I think you're the one member none of us have ever met... You have to show up for something once... and we can give you ideas right ont he spot... well, other people will give you ideas. I'll just make a crack of them, but anyway.

For ideas, watch the women's channel or those shows on tv. They give you lots of ideas, and it's better 'cause you visualize, as opposed to reading about it. You're lucky 'cause I'm sure in Kitchener you have lots of open spaces and being in the summer, you'll get a really nice day, hopefully. The main things are the hall and the church. Having that booked, do everything else little by little. Planning a wedding is fun, but it can also be EXTREMELY hectic and stressful, especially for the girl. Try to have as much fun as you can... and for God's sake, try NOT TO TALK wedding 24/7 for the next year. THAT can get annoying. For both of you. Just keep having a life.

i met her buffy i met here!!!! wooohhhooo and i think Julie too she came out to one of rickys shows at Magnate!! i feel special!!!

@Mr. CLean - ignorant stupid comment like yours make me laugh!! What does being divorced have to do with giving wedding planning advise??? last time i checked nada ke ver uno con el otro asi ke ese commentario estupido no es necessary!!!

as for the recuerditos y todo esos, same thing, do the most by yourself. I bought little scented candles and I put, envoltura, the liston and the tag (which I did and caligraphed) myself. cost of each veliteas ya con todo was not even half of what I've been quoted for that and other stuff.

I did my center pieces so it basically cost me nothing. If most of your family is here, you can just go and drop the invitations and for the rest of them, let say, you have family in Miami, well, send the whole bunch to one of them and they'll figure out how to deliver them, etc.... Sounds silly but every little penny saved is something. Money goes fast

YES SO RIGHT!!!! ALSO UR invitations go online and u can see so many do it ur self ideas that make it all cheaper and classy too!! this website is the best so far because they send u emails on deals and all

its www.theknot.com its american but there amazing

Depends on you! how much to do u want to spend?? i spent about 7000-8000 but i did alot myself i bought my dress on sale! let my bridesmaids where whatever dress they wanted but had to be a specific color, i did my own bouquet (micheals will teach u or online) centerpieces are best to find in china town! and then just arrange them urself!

Or if you go big u can spend alot of money my brother just got married had about 500ppl and it cost him about 60grand!

ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS CUZ ITS A HARSH LESSON: THE WEDDING WILL NOT PAY FOR ITS SELF UNLESS U EXPECT PPL TO GIVE U MORE THE THE PLATE COST! TRUST ME! BUDGET AND DONT EXPECT TO MAKE MORE MONEY!!

Also when you look for your dress go everywhere and anywhere dont settle trust me!!! spadina and st.clair are great and u can find both pricy and on sale!!!!

@ Yesi, do you have an idea of your budget ?
This might help you and like Pincessa said above, there are tones of tips in those magazines. I think they also have budget rulers or something like that, then you can just do it out of your computer.

Personally, I don't like the bridals show, you do have to go it will give you an idea but really the best advise was Genie's SHOP AROUND, you'll be surprise of the price difference form one place to another and the quality as well.

Yesi don't panic my cousin did everything in six months, u still got enough time, believe it or not almost the only ppl that actually need the whole year is the church, for everything else there's enough options out there, enough halls, enough djs, etc I would suggest to pay for most of the stuff now though, or at least start paying for all the stuff now, installments or whatever but try to have everything paid off before the wedding (if u can), coz u will need money then, for the honeymoon and all the xtra lil costs.

I've been married for 3 months now and the best advise I can give you is

Don't get married!!!!

Just joking - Planning is hard but you can make it easier by booking one thing at a time.
Starting with the hall and Limo's which are they only things that can really get booked up in advance.

I also have a good contact for the flowers (at wholesale price) plus she does all the arrangements, ohh and i also have a good contact for the limo (really affordable and excellent service), ohhh lollll and my last good contact is the photographer, he's european, kind of expensive but the money he charges is soo worth it, i got beautiful pics :) newayz if anyone needs the numbers let me know, xau ;)

I got engaged 2 weeks ago Genie. We are still waiting for a confirmation from Church, I want the wedding to be on July 28, 2007. I hope this is possible.

Anyway I am going crazy becasue I was told that the reception hall needs to be set a year before the wedding and as all of you can see its now less than a year.

I am stressed.

As some of you might have seen in another thread, yesi is about to get married and she is panicking.

Please guys , throw some tips for the organization of the event.

For ex. Yesi,

What is you date, check Church and Ballroom first to make sure you can have both the same day.
Make a tentative list to have some quotation.
Go and visit places, try food, etc....

En cuanto a padrinos and all that, as many or as less as you want. You will not please everyone anyway.
