I hate beauty pagents as a whole anyways... not because of the exploitation and objectification of women because after all these girls are on there of their own free will and so its their choice; but because of the unrealistic standard that it sets for real females (if you have ever been involved in a pagent, u know what you see is all smoke and mirrors.. or more like, tape, vaseline and make-up). I think the reason is simple - the girls who you really want to represent the Latinos don't want to be involved!

So you are left with a contest between a mix of girls, many who don't really have qualities to be a beauty pagaent winner.

How do you make these beauty pagaents more prestigious and exclusive? I don't know but I would suggest raising the entrance fee, make high grades a prerequisite and make the prizes bigger and better. This way you will hopefully give the beautiful, eloquent and educated women a reason to participate.

The pageant is a business.. and yes is true that the people organizing it spend hours and money doing it and they deserve to get a good profit out of all this effort.
