- informate primero.

So if it's free then why do they have "health insurance" cases....

OHIP will cover your medical bill, NOT your losses (income, etc) nor your medication, rehab, etc........ that is what the "insurance" would cover

I wonder if it's fact that the league had promised insurance for the players I can only compare it to the small local soccer leagues, and I've never heard of that. It's usually "play at your own risk" type of deal

Maybe someone can post the leagues application where in fact it states that the league includes some sort of insurance for players

True but for that they have dissability and EI, so you're covered pretty good. I guess its just the principle of the matter, they said they had insurance and turns out they dont. Either way I smell lawsuit. This is the first time Ive ever heard of any league offering insurance to the players tho, like someone said it usually is "play at ur own risk"

If you have dissability insurance, privately, yes... otherwise forget it
Or if by "dissability" you mean WorkersComp... forget that too. They won't give you a dime unless you get hurt at WORK

Unlees you can apply for EI under medical leave, that I don't know
But you'd still be getting less than 2/3 of your income to a max of $400 (not sure if the $400 cap still applies nowadays)

Yeah, a league with insurance for PLAYERS, I never heard of

Same at the league I play, the registration form says the league isn't responsible for any type of injuries.

Yeah most of these leagues are play at your own risk! First off she has no case! Unless she signed a CONTRACT that states she will be compensated or if injury occurs u will be covered! these organizations DONT have the money for this! or better yet dont care to cover cuz in any sport u go in knowing that one day u will get injured! your not a professional athlete getting paid to do this its ur own will in ur free time!

Sorry to hear what happened to her but shes just trying to take advantage and get money out of something that to an extent she brought on herself! sorry my comments!
