"Corría el año 1876, cuando dos empresarios norteamericanos, Jacobo Backus y Howard Johnston, se asociaron para fundar la Fábrica Sudamericana de Hielo S.A. Tres años después, en 1879, la compañía dio un giro, pasando a convertirse en "The Backus & Johnston Brewery Ltd". Ubicada en el corazón del Rímac, en lo que fuera la mansión de la célebre doña Micaela Villegas, "La Perricholi", la cervecería atravesó en los años siguientes una etapa de producción de cervezas de gran variedad pero poco reconocimiento. Pero eso cambiaría en 1922, cuando la Cervecería lanzó al mercado una cerveza cuyo cuerpo y sabor terminarían conquistando a generaciones de peruanos. Su nombre, Cristal.
Un año clave en nuestra historia fue 1954, cuando don Ricardo Bentín Mujica, respaldado por un grupo de decididos empresarios, gestionó que el capital de la compañía pasase a manos peruanas, cambiando su nombre por Cervecería Backus y Johnston S.A.
Con ello, una nueva época se abrió paso. Ante la creciente demanda de los productos Backus, se decidió descentralizar la empresa, fundándose Cervecería San Juan en Pucallpa y Cervecería del Norte en Chiclayo; iniciándose luego la producción y comercialización de las cervezas San Juan, Garza Blanca, Garza Real y Real


En 1979, cuando se conmemoraba el centenario de la empresa, Backus inició la construcción de la Planta de Ate, un imponente complejo cervecero, catalogado como uno de los más avanzados del continente.


En 1994, Backus continúo consolidando su absoluto liderazgo en el mercado peruano, al adquirir la Compañía Nacional de Cerveza (CNC) y la Sociedad Cervecera de Trujillo (SCT).


Continuando con su espectacular desarrollo, en 1997 Backus se fusionó con la Compañía Nacional de Cerveza, Cervecería del Norte y Sociedad Cervecera de Trujillo para conformar la Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston S.A.A., el mejor y más grande grupo cervecero del país y uno de los mayores de América Latina.


Finalmente, el 28 de Abril del 2000, tuvo lugar otro gran hito, con la compra del 97.8% de las acciones comunes de Cervesur, y el 45.07% de las acciones de inversión, gestión que hizo posible que Cusqueña y Arequipeña, dos marcas de enorme tradición, siguieran siendo, como siempre, peruanas."

no , no soy mexicana.... Soy chilena como la cerveza Cristal "unika, grande y nuestra"!!!


Esa regla me la enseñaron en la escuela cuando me pasaron las reglas de multiplicar
