Wowww, MJ you were very unlucky. My dad was cremated and we were all behind a thick glass window and the only thing we saw was the casket going into the "horno" or whatever it is called.
Then we went to a nice roome to wait, well we decided to go to the coffee place next door to the Cemetery because the process took approx 2 hours.
So no bad experience of smell or popping head.
@ Phanta, the Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise in Paris have one of these garden if you don't want to be put in the mausleum, the call it "Le jardin du Souvenir" (el Jardin de los Recuerdos). The place is very nice and not sad at all. So I think that most of the places have one. And yes so far, cremation is the cheapest unless you decide to give your body to science.

DEATH SUCKS.... BUT IF I MUST DIE, I'D LIKE TO BE BURIED NEXT TO MY POPS & ABUELA SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME AT A FUNERAL THAT THE BIBLE SAYS YOU HAVE TO GET BURIED SOMETHING ABOUT "ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUST" MOST DEF, I'D GIVE SOME ORGANS FOR DONATIONS IF THEY'D HELP SOMEONE ELSE... DID YOU KNO THAT THE ORGAN THAT IS MOST REQUESTED IN SOUTH CALIFORNIA IS "SKIN"?? I WASN'T AWARE SKIN WAS AN ORGAN.
Honey, your skin is the largest organ on your body.

I already bought my plot its at Bathurst and Finch where my two angels are buried im next to them! it is expensive so im payin for it slowly! And yes they can get expensive! The caskets i bought for both my babies was about 450 each! even though the funeral homes supplies the plot and casket but you can always pay for another casket and thats what i did i also have Marbel plaques with there names and date of birth and death!

Anyways, Ive decided since I dont care what happens to my body after Im done with, I will leave very specific instructions to dispose of it as cheaply as possible so cremation is probably the best option. They then can scatter the ashes on a park or something... I dunno, I'll think about that last part. Then they can use all the money they saved on some fancy wooden box and put it towards a nice party. -- Edited by Phantasma at 15:45, 2006-07-25 Oh yeah..........I hear ya Phanta!! My locket with my daddy's ashes was $575!!!! It's a simple locket but JEBUS, that's a booming business. They KNOW people can't say no. I've never shelled out so much money on one item in my life. Fortunately, the guys at the Wilson TTC division saved up money for me, so that's what I bought with the money. You know what my great grandmother did?! She was kind of like you. She used to say, "Who cares when I die? Why have a funeral with a whole bunch of hypocrites?!" (S-E-N-I-L-E) ANYWAY, she donated her body to science. @NeNa & El Duro: They put his body on top of all these wood piles. I think it was a hindu funeral, I can't remember Anyway, I saw this about 14 years ago and I STILL have the visual, the sound, and the smell in my head!!! Not cool!!!
I would love to see that...
when I was a kid in ecuador i went to a wake and when everyone was praying the dead got up and started to vomit on the side, and then it went back to it's position
I'm pretty sure thats how all cremations are done though. Maybe not for the public to view, but the body gets places in a wooden box, with more wood around it. The funural service director tells you that the ashes are not all entirely of the desceased body because of the process involved.

eewww no... I dont wanna traumatize my relatives either. They can do the bbq'in inside the crematorium where no one can see. Of whatever is left that is, cause I also wanna donate any spare parts that can be useful to other people, not like Im gonna need them at that point.
