So was I! Front and centre!!! I don't know how the hell I ended up there... Actually, I do know... I pushed our way through. I even kicked a photographer out ('cause she was obstructing my view). Well, didn't kick her out... more liked "talked her into leaving"...

The mexican guy was Jose something or other. Didn't have a rapper name, that's why it was forgettable. But I'll find out. And the Jamaican or somalian guy was Ponches... Ponches???

It was a really good show for reals... not a dull moment. @ Daeveed, not all of them are Chilean, Bomba is chilean. She MCs and also plays the bass guitar. The rest of them (and they were A LOT) are from all over the place. The whole vibe was wicked that night. Specially at the end when all the MCs (like 10 of them) jumped to stage to jam with the musicians and freestyle to close the show.

I didn't see you there.

Bomba is wicked. I didn't know she played the bass either. And she's awesome at it. She had so many people performing that I can hardly remember all of them: some reggae guys, some reggaeton (Diggydon... sp?) She had a rapper from Mexico who looked like a homeless guy but who was so incredibly poetic and smart. Unbelievable. There were also a group of kids that performed, danced, a medley of merengue, salsa, bachata, hip hop and a whole bunch of rhythms. It was just spectacular. Bomba raps (incredibly smart, soulful and thought-provoking words) and she can also scream. Oh, yeah, she can scream.

ETA: Confu, yes.

I know who she is but haven't seen her perform in like five years, she started out rapping lol is that a word? free flowing or whatever u call it, a while ago, she's been around for years. She went back to Chile for a few months about two/three years ago where she got to experience the real ghetto in the shanty towns of Santiago and Valparaiso. I like her, she's good, really involved with poverty and women's movements, she is one interesting character.

Well, so Saturday night we're trying to find a place to go and ended up going to Harbourfront. We were expecting to see some live band, chu no, some latino music... we figure, mexican celebration = either mariachis or maybe some good salsa bands. Well, we were not expecting what we found. We saw this show with La Bomba, the chilean rapper, and a whole bunch of different things, and by different I mean DIFFERENT. It was wicked!!! It was loud, wild, thought-provoking, mellow, funky, weird and unbelievably unique. If you ever get a chance to see these people, I BEG YOU, please, do. If you're judgemental you shouldn't, but if you're open-minded and curious, you really should. It gives you a whole new perspective about music amongst the latin youth and the bohemian pot-smoking artists.   Has anyone else seen these guys? I'd talked to Bomba before, but I'd never seen her and her crew perform. I am literally blown away. They're all amazing.

Never heard of them. Are they Chilean?

Could you please shed some more detail on it? How many ppl are in the band? how's the performance? do they play instruments?...etc....thanks.
