From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Marie_Le_Pen In June 2006, he claimed that the French World Cup squad contained too many coloured players, and was not an accurate reflection of French society. What a A$$................

No doubt about it. And yes, they are an accurate representation of the French society, like the pple from North Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe, etc... and they might not be mostly representated in the soccer but in other sports and business.

I hate that guy with so much passion, it's too sad to see former immigrants to his meeting !

Of course the comments are out of place... that's europe. Those sort of comments are (for the time being) not uncommon.

I imagine it will change when a substantial proportion of voters have last names like abdelrraman, just as it has changed in north america.

I've heard similar comments in the mouths of frenchmen (on the supposed lack of "frenchness" of the national team). And as for politicians, you have a fine fellow called Le Pen, with parliamentary representation, and 15% of the vote, so.... France is hardly an example in Europe as a racism-free society. Far from it, frankly.

Ohh, I have no doubt about it and it is very sad (heard them too). But what I am talking about here is the Italian Prime Minister making those comment to the press, not about his team but the other one. I thought that it is very out of place.

I know well about the French shame named Le Pen, no need to be remembered, thanks. And I never said that France was a Racism-free country, niether is most of Eurpoe and I am well aware of that. Which is why I think Europe will find herself in a dead end street sooner that she think BUT THIS IS NOT THE POINT HERE.

But this is sport, something that should unite pple not devide them, this was the perfect oportunity to works towards a better understanding and living amongst each other. Sorry for still believing in pple and their good faith. Sorry if you did not understood what I meant to say, I know my English is far from been the best.

"Terrific. For the record, we at Vulture Central believe that - contrary to current wisdom - the Materazzi-felling incident was provoked not by references to Zidane's mother and his Algerian ancestry, but rather the suggestion that Italian wine may be of equal, or superior, quality to its French equivalent.

In the circumstances, Zidane's reaction as the embodiment of France was understandable. Let's face it, the Bastille was stormed for less. ® "

interesting
