this year I had the opportunity of being in Haliburton County for Canada Day and I gotta say that out of the 10 years living in Canada this was the first time I really could feel the essence of C-Day.... It was awesome.... my friend and I were the only "brownies" in the whole town, but ppl treated us very well and they were very interested in our customs, language and Reggeatoni.... LOL
Anyways, I don't think Canada is loosing it's Heritage, it's just been moved out of town.
out of all the cool things that I experienced that w/e I gotta say the coolest think was to see the Fireflies @ night in the middle of the forest... (never seen those lil bugs in my life)

you've asked a very good question, and i think that part of being a host is to let the others (in this case countries) feel at home. O sea, eso es lo que canada is doing, giving space to let the other nationalities shine. It's what canada has for long been proud to say and and stand for, that they're a multicultural country.
As canada in itself, i believe that they do have pride in their heritage, they do go the length to try and preserve as much historical landmarks as possible and promote it for us/the world to discover.
I think it's wonderful that i would feel comfortable enough to put up a flag of my birth country in my front yard without being afraid. It's nice to feel accepted.
I don't think that in the states i'd feel as comfortable doing it...but that's just my opinion.

Well, there's no doubt that "americans" are more patriotic than typical canadians. But also remember, that they believe thay are at war, and therefore, they try to lift their spirits.
Canadians are not at war, and are too busy with their busy schedules to worry about flag flying. I think.
Most typical canadians have got out of Toronto, that's why you don't see so many flags. That's what I think. BUT THEN HOW DO U EXPLAIN THE FACT THAT EVERYTIME THAT YOU GO ANYWHERE IN THE STATES YOU SEE THERE FLAG ALL OVER THE PLACE YEAR AROUND??
