I think that what Bistor says makes a lot of sense,.probably because everyone wants to get benefit only for themselves,.

A great idea, but at the wrong time, and from the wrong people, unfortunately.

Attempting independence without consensus only brings fragmentation and foreign intervention in weak countries... as it indeed happened.

Truly a pity.

Regardless if its "EL" or "LA", it was GRAN COLOMBIA.  As for the Flag, each colour represents something, that is why the Colombian flag is "plain".  We don't need to add things to it, it is the meaning behind each colour that brings pride to the nations flag.
