Ok, so I get an e-mail this morning from "management" saying that our summer dress code does not allow open toe shoes, only sling-backs. We are also not allowed to wear capris. Is this stupid or is this stupid???????
It is stupid. I feel your pain. I don't see anything wrong or "sexy" or unprofessional with simple capris and nice top. At my other work we had stricked dress code. But at this office its ok. We don't have casual days at all, but we can wear sandals and capris and skirts (not mini skirts).
Even when I have had office jobs I would be the one stepping up to the "boss" and starting my own trend on what to wear for everyone.....I was good at what I did so he did not wanna let me go.....and I took advantage of that .....I wore whatever I wanted but kept it respectful enough when I had clients and I was representing his company.....but that was my choice....it was not forced upon me.....
BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO ANYWHERE....SUCKS!!!
Keep it respectful and logical.....it's common sense really....
I hate being restricted on dress code whether at clubs, work or wherever....I feel it's a way to snatch your freedom of having a choice....but it's a form of respect to the OWNERS or people in charge of the venue or workplace or whatever....it maintains a certain image.....some think that "suits" are more respectable than just Jeans and a nice business casual top...even if both people are getting the same job done.....the one with a suit gets taken more seriously.....
The one choice you do have is QUITTING YOUR JOB!

Well I always wear lingerie, that is not surprising, what don't you? No, not realy... I go commando! You know, that way I save on clothing so I can afford fresh cauliflower (you know, mold free!)

Well, unless youve got some nastyazz toes, then yes, closed shoes are your friends. We can pretty much wear anything to the office. Fridays are offical dress down days, but they are pretty good about that here.
We have these Friday meetings to apparently voice opinions, communicate, bla bla bla. Anyway, it has been suggested so many times to have a summer dress code and casual Fridays, but the suggestion never gets followed up on. So I dont know why they ask for suggestions and input if they`re not gonna do anything about it.

I can understand with the nurses that deal on the clinic side and with the patients. But the admin staff is at the back office and we have no interaction with the patients. We dont have casual days either. And I dont see the big deal with capris. As long as their not denim or army print or something I dont see the problem. @Julie - same thing with the tops. No spaghetti straps, belly tops (this one I totally understand), etc. But like you said, we`ll see how many people actually follow it.
Yeah Capri, that's silly, it's like try to forbide skirts BELOW the knees. What do they want, mini skirts ?

We have no casual days or summer dress code. Stiff collar shirts all the time. Aren't u in the medical field? Maybe its a health concern with the exposed toes.

thats how one of my jobs r .."business casual"...mehhh...i come from one to another ..so it gets to late to go change..so im like the only one who arrives in jeans runners and a hat lol
And nothing about tube tops o escotes, open backs, blusa de tirantes delgaditos (estilo) Zara
It was like that where I worked before so, I am not surprised but wait and see, I doubt that it will be respected. At least, I didn't as well as many pple and nobody ever said anything.
