I'm sure most of you have car alarmsand I would agree it's a good idea to have but what about house alarms? Are they helpful? We have an emergency system alarm that someone (MM) set this morning and that I forgot to deactivate before opening the patio door for my cats! So it goes off and there I am scrambling to turn it off, the cats are running for cover (pffft scardy cats). And FIVE minutes later, YES FIVE we get a call from the alarm system center. I had to give them the verbal code which I didn't even have. So they're like: - "Alright, just make sure that in the future you have it." Pfffffffft! How safe is that? About a month ago, my MIL accidentally set off the alarm and they never even called. I hate the ****ing alarm. And in my opinion, it's not even worth it. *mumbling* Response time 5 minutes... pffft... safe my arse.
I don't even have a car....

Yup they are just to let you know that somebody broke in.....useless...
I think so. @ LG: Pffffft, ni regaladas valen la pena las pertenencias de mis suegros y peor, PEOR las de mi cuñado. No sé qué tanto protegen. (For MM, NYM.. ugh! Stop translating, you think?!) @ Xavier: I honestly don't think it's worth it. Response time is bad and burglars will break an entry with or without an alarm system. When I lived in L.A. my ex-employers had a couple of burglaries to their shop while I was there (roughly 6 months) and I'm not counting the before I was there. No alarm stopped any of them. As I said before, response time was 5 minutes (today) and all they did was call. If it was 5 minutes but they showed up at your door, te la creo. Last time they didn't even bother calling.
espcialmente esas, pero pensando lo bien le harian un favor no ?

Princessa and I where actually talking about this just the other day.....and if u ask her she will tell u that is a good idea for sure and think the same, even tho they take some time but I'm sure it will make the burglar think twice before breaking in. X@vier
We so were yesterday night. Crazy.
Burglers are going to break thru anything or any kind of security sytem anyone has, if they really wanted to, BUT I thinks is worth it to have anyways. I rather have that then nothing at all, plus you should always have an alarm & car/house insurance regardless.

Add a "BEWARE OF DOG (or Doguito)"... even better works a "BEWARE OF PITBULL" sign... you don't have to have one; but the little ****er that wants to get in won't know

True. And always remember to leave blood stains by the doors, windows and anywhere else a burgler might try to enter through. But please not the chimney because you'll scare Santa.
