I believe people fill in the gaps (things they don't know about someone) with idealized versions of someone. For example if you meet someone online you may not know they are messy. In your mind they are neat tidy people. So it very easy to develop feelings for an idealized person. That all goes for long distance relationships. Chemistry could be a matter of smell, of comic timing, of posture, mannerism, etc-- all of which is not experienced on line. Thus you fill in the missing information with your idealized version.
Ummm, filling in the gaps ... I agree with this ... Thanks Neruda ... So then because some people do this then in the long run can get hurt because of what THEY perceive the other to be and if THEY are not then it is a deception that oneself has caused ...

With all these new fabulous ways of meeting people without actually meeting them did I lose you LoL ... Well you know what I mean through forums, chats, messengers, etc ... Have you found yourself in a situation where you exchange phone numbers and hence the next step taken is a phone call instead of jumping the gun and meeting the person in person ... you exchange pictures, descriptions, thoughts, ideas, etc ...
Now here is the twist, obviously the comfort level is increasing if the calls are increasing ... My question is: Can feelings TRULY be developing for this STRANGER ... Yes, I say stranger 'cause you haven't met them yet and if you haven't met them yet how could feelings be developing ...
** Also, if feelings are developing what happens if you do meet and ummm there is no chemistry ... Would you TRULY be hurt? **
